Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Tod Rivas (ranked 7986 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Eriksen (ranked 5896 p4p, 0 weight class). And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, David Eriksen!
The judges for this bout are , Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Eriksen scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Rivas throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Eriksen has closed the distance and engaged Rivas in a clinch.

Eriksen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Rivas is trying to keep an underhook but Eriksen manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Rivas seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression.
Rivas keeps control of Eriksen as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.

Eriksen turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Eriksen manages to end up in side control.
Rivas manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Rivas is looking to control Eriksen's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Rivas avoid being mounted?

Rivas wants to get back to full guard but Eriksen has passed into side control.

Eriksen stands up.

Rivas gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Eriksen to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Eriksen is standing up over Rivas. Rivas looks to escape but Eriksen dives into side control.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rivas is trying to work for a sweep but Eriksen has mounted him!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eriksen prevents Rivas from getting the reversal.
Rivas wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Eriksen.
Rivas keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Eriksen misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Eriksen controlling the position easily from mount.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Eriksen working for a guillotine from mount but Rivas is in no mood to give up.
Eriksen controlling the pace for now.
Eriksen throws some wild stikes that Rivas manages to avoid easily.
Eriksen trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Eriksen looking to ground and pound but Rivas is blocking nicely.
Rivas wants to control but Eriksen is having none of it.

Rivas is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Eriksen controlling the position easily from mount.
Rivas holds on to Eriksen around his waist, trying desperately to prevent any attacks.
Rivas is looking to get to half guard.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Eriksen cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Eriksen wants to finish this one by submission but Rivas is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Eriksen.
Eriksen tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Rivas is looking to improve his position but Eriksen isn't that keen on the idea.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Back to the action!

Eriksen gets in close and instigates a clinch.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.
Oh Rivas is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Eriksen wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Rivas seems to have got his legs back now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Eriksen misses with an elbow over the top.

Rivas is starting to get sloppy and is letting his hands down. Eriksen just took advantage and landed a stinging jab. Oh! Now a right hook, right on the button! Rivas has gone limp and this one is over!
