And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bazar Al Jhit!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Jhit forces Shamkhalaev back against the ropes and clinches.

Al Jhit lands a takedown into guard.
Shamkhalaev can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Al Jhit controls the pace.

Shamkhalaev has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Al Jhit can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shamkhalaev lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Al Jhit is trying to keep Shamkhalaev in close.

Al Jhit has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Shamkhalaev can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Al Jhit had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Shamkhalaev defends it easily.

Shamkhalaev throws a big right hand that misses.

Al Jhit is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Shamkhalaev defends well.
Shamkhalaev wants to control from the top but Al Jhit keeps moving.
Al Jhit is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Shamkhalaev is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at St Petersburg MMA Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.

Shamkhalaev controls Al Jhit momentarily but Al Jhit frees himself.
Shamkhalaev wants to improve his position but instead Al Jhit has moved into half guard.

Al Jhit seems to be looking for submissions.
Al Jhit wants to lay and pray for a moment but Shamkhalaev keeps working.

Al Jhit moves into full mount! Shamkhalaev won't be happy about that!

Shamkhalaev tries to improve his position but Al Jhit has taken his back! Al Jhit has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Shamkhalaev tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Al Jhit pushes Shamkhalaev away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 5:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Bazar Al Jhit!

Bazar Al Jhit decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
