Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Bazar Al Jhit (ranked 1100 p4p, 127 weight class) and Salman Shamkhalaev (ranked 1562 p4p, 192 weight class). Al Jhit comes into the arena with What May Safely Be Written blaring out of the sound system. Shamkhalaev comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Alter Bridge - Ties That Bind kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Salman Shamkhalaev is staring across the ring at his opponent, tweaking his nipples.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Bazar Al Jhit!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Salman Shamkhalaev!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Ren Mimura.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Al Jhit closes the distance and clinches.
Shamkhalaev wants to get back to striking at distance but Al Jhit won't allow it.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shamkhalaev has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Shamkhalaev is looking to break free of the clinch but Al Jhit has double underhooks.
Al Jhit has Shamkhalaev pressed against the ropes, preventing Shamkhalaev from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Al Jhit lands a hook to the side of the head.
Al Jhit lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Shamkhalaev backwards.
Al Jhit tries to score a body lock takedown but Shamkhalaev shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Al Jhit lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Al Jhit swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Al Jhit misses with a body punch.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Al Jhit.
Al Jhit working some nice short punches in the clinch.
Al Jhit tries for a takedown but Shamkhalaev manages to get underhooks.
Shamkhalaev misses with a hook from the clinch.
Al Jhit wants to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Shamkhalaev throws a punch but it's blocked by Al Jhit.
Shamkhalaev looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Al Jhit effectively controlling the action here.

Al Jhit gets a trip takedown into half guard.
Shamkhalaev tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Al Jhit manages to move to mount!

That's one minute gone in the round.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Al Jhit looking to control and managing it successfully.
Shamkhalaev is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Shamkhalaev really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Al Jhit controlling the position easily from mount.

Al Jhit looking to control but Shamkhalaev is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Shamkhalaev tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Al Jhit tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Shamkhalaev stops Al Jhit from taking his back. Still, being mounted isn't any better.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Shamkhalaev tries to hold on but Al Jhit postures up.
Shamkhalaev is working to get back to half guard.

Al Jhit is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Al Jhit!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Bazar Al Jhit!

A very excited looking Bazar Al Jhit rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
