Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Fring (ranked 435 p4p, 58 weight class) and Alika Hakekia (ranked 1030 p4p, 126 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Fring might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Bamboleo by The Gypsy Kings. Alika Hakekia has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Alika Hakekia!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Cecil Peabody and Tiny Johnson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hakekia's jab looks to have found its range, popping Fring under the eye.


It looks like Gustavo Fring has been cut.
Hakekia lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Hakekia throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Fring throws a sloppy body shot
and Hakekia counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Hakekia swings widly with a right hand
and Hakekia takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Hakekia slips a jab and a cross from Fring.
Hakekia doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Hakekia. Fring shrugs it off though.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Hakekia takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.

Hakekia is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Fring with a body shot.

Fring throws a shot from downtown. Hakekia moves away and avoids it.
Fring throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Fring looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Hakekia counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Alika Hakekia will probably get the nod.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Fring loads up on a big right hand but Hakekia slips the punch.

It looked like Fring was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Hakekia.
Hakekia on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
Fring swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Hakekia throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
A little feinted left hand from Fring on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Fring misses with an uppercut.
Hakekia steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Fring.
Hakekia replies with a solid counter kick to the body but Fring blocks it well.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Fring lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Fring swings for the body but Hakekia moves out of range.
Fring fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Hakekia on the side of the head.
Fring misses with a looping left.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Hakekia! But no joy.
Fring lands a jab to Hakekia's midsection.

Fring lands a big right hand that sends Hakekia crashing to the mat! Fring stays standing though and waves Hakekia back to his feet!


Hakekia is rocked!
Fring is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hakekia can do to turn this around?

Fring cracks Hakekia with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Hakekia tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Fring pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Hakekia is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gustavo Fring!
