 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Belmonte throws a right hand that Griffin ducks under and follows up with a left that Griffin also avoids with ease. Belmonte's corner calls for a 1-2. Belmonte obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Belmonte ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Griffin moves away. Griffin fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Griffin tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Belmonte swivels and escapes.
Griffin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Griffin lands in his opponent's guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Belmonte keeping moving, preventing Griffin from controlling successfully. Belmonte trying to control the position.
Griffin wants to control from the top but Belmonte keeps moving. Belmonte is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Griffin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
 That's one minute gone in the round. Griffin is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Griffin pushes down on Belmonte's leg and manages to get into half guard. Belmonte is looking to escape. Griffin tries to pass to full mount but Belmonte defends it. Belmonte pushes Griffin off looking to stand but Griffin dives back in and keeps control.
Griffin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Belmonte with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Belmonte is staying active underneath Griffin, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Griffin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Belmonte's head. Griffin stops Belmonte from getting back to his feet.
 Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Griffin misses the jab. Griffin tries to clinch but Belmonte is having none of it.  It looks like The Mexican Samurai has been cut. Mexican Samurai walks into a stiff left hand from Frost. Frost shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Mexican Samurai pinned against the cage. Mexican Samurai gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Frost shoots for a double leg takedown but Mexican Samurai sprawls well. Wallace lands a big shot there that rocks Mitchell but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Dugald throws an overhand right that lands on Carver's shoulder, as Carver tries to avoid the shot. Nice takedown defense from Carver. No joy for Dugald on that attempt. Carver scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
