Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jamie Leigh Kent (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Walter O Flanigan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kent comes to the cage accompanied by Stand Up (Akala). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice takedown defense from O Flanigan. No joy for Kent on that attempt.
O Flanigan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Kent! O Flanigan looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Kent is wriggling around trying to escape.
O Flanigan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
O Flanigan controlling from the full mount. Kent is looking to get to half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kent had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. O Flanigan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position.  The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice sprawl there from Baeumer as Johnson shoots in.
Johnson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Baeumer is looking to improve his position.
Johnson is tying to control. Baeumer wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Johnson trying to pass the guard but Baeumer defending well. Johnson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Baeumer with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Johnson is keen to just control but Baeumer is a slippery customer. Baeumer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Johnson missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Johnson has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Baeumer looks gassed!  The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Baeumer ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Johnson moves away. Baeumer throws a right and a left that Johnson avoids nicely. Baeumer looks to land a combination. Johnson sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Johnson showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Baeumer.

 That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Baeumer thuds his right hand into Johnson's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Johnson wants to pass the guard but Baeumer is defending well. Johnson trying to control from half guard but Baeumer is working away. Paul Baeumer has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
 Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Johnson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Baeumer throws a series of punches but Johnson avoids them all with ease.

And that's the end of the fight! Mike Johnson showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Johnson, winning every round. Will the judges agree? He's got his arms around Crew's waist but Crew gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Smithers off to one side. Smithers should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Crew looks to score with a jab to the body but Smithers is just out of range. Crew throws a body kick that misses.

 The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ray paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Ray misses with a two punch combination.
Ray lands a really nice looking cross but Bush seems unphased.
Ray misses with a looping right. Ray with a body punch. A glancing blow. Ray throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bush sees it coming and avoids it easily. A jab lands there for Ray. Ray with a jab. Ray slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Bush should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ray connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Bush tumbling to the canvas! Ray pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Bush was done - good stoppage!

Maia is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Maia wants to sweep but no luck. And that�s the end of the round � the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close fourth round but I would say that Pentti Pena will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!
Maia wants to clinch up but Pena keeps it at a distance. Pena dips to his left and cracks Maia with an uppercut! Maia is looking to clinch but Pena is avoiding it.
Pena looks to land a combination but Maia avoids it well. A combination from Pena does no damage. Pena circles away from the clinch attempt.
Pentti Pena is winning the standup battle so far. Pena lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Pena swats away the attempt to clinch by Maia. Maia displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Pena throws out the jab. Pena keeps the fight on the outside. Maia is looking to clinch. Pena throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Maia. Maia fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Pena throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Maia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pena looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Pena bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Maia's head. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Pena looks to score with a jab to the body but Maia is just out of range. Maia connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Maia moves out of range of the strikes. Pena keeps the fight on the outside.
 That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Maia. Pena throws a nice looking combination but Maia bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Pena thows a body shot but no joy.
Maia drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Pena is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Pena is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here. Pena prevents Maia from moving into mount. Pena is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Maia asserts his dominance and retains side control. Pena manages to work his way to half guard, despite Maia's best efforts.
 That's two minutes gone in the round. The fighters are battling for position here. Pena manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Pena looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Maia will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Pentti Pena has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lyoto Maia.

Pena obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Pena waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Maia. Pena scores with a jab to the body. Maia wants to clinch up but Pena keeps it at a distance. Maia is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Maia tries to clinch up but Pena circles away and keeps his distance. Maia shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Lyoto Maia has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Pena cracks Maia with a good jab. Maia wants to clinch up but Pena keeps it at a distance.

Maia is trying to trip Pena. He has hold of a leg but Pena is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Maia persists though and gets the takedown into guard. Maia loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Maia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Maia passes Pena's left leg - he's now in half guard. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Pena is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Maia's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Maia's back!
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pentti Pena. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Pena, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent.
