He's slapped on a rear naked choke that looks really tight! Steele falls backwards, slamming Slice to the mat but Slice holds on tight! Steele is forced to tap and this one is all over!

Silva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Silva tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Simpson tries to bench press Silva off him but Silva keeps the position. Silva working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simpson manages to get back to half guard. Simpson is defending against the submission attempts here by Silva.

Tucker tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Conwell tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Tucker wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Tucker is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Conwell looks calm but he's in trouble here. Tucker gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Conwell is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Tucker lets go of the hold and Conwell can pop his arm back in it's socket.

It looks like Ratt Hughes has been cut. Hughes is breathing heavily. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Hughes blocks a jab. Nice body punch from Ballantine. Hughes slips a straight right by Ballantine. Ballantine clobbers Hughes with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Ballantine connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Hughes's hands. Nice combo by Ballantine! Oh, that's hurt him - Hughes falls to the canvas and Ballantine follows him into side control.
Hughes is rocked! Hughes is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Oh Hughes is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Ballantine wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hughes keeps working. Hughes seems to have got his legs back now. Hughes trying to remain calm as Ballantine controls from the top position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Ballantine tries for a kimura but Hughes is defending well. Ballantine decides to stand back up. Ballantine steps back and let's Hughes get back to his feet.

Wayne Ballantine is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Ballantine cracks Hughes with an uppercut from hell and Hughes crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Ballantine's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hughes looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Hughes keeping moving, preventing Ballantine from controlling successfully. Hughes trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Ballantine connects with a couple of short punches. Hughes is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Ballantine thows a body shot but no joy. Ballantine scores with a jab. Ballantine throws a lazy right hand but Hughes sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Hughes defending well as Ballantine loads up on a big left hand. Hughes shoots for a takedown but Ballantine saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Ballantine drops Hughes with a hook right on the temple. He thinks about going to the ground but Hughes looks back up at him and smiles so Ballantine waves him back to his feet - he obviously thinks he can knock him out after that shot landed.

Ballantine cracks Hughes with a big right hand and Hughes goes down! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
