The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kickass. Hooijdonk scores with a kick to the midsection. Kickass shoots for a takedown but Hooijdonk saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Kickass shoots in but Hooijdonk avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ray Kickass. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kickass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Kickass shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Hooijdonk but Hooijdonk pushes him off and we're back to square one. Hooijdonk stuffs the takedown attempt from Kickass. Kickass gets slowly back to his feet. Hooijdonk scores with a crisp jab that stopped Kickass in his tracks. Some wild striking there from Hooijdonk.

They are putting on a show! Hooijdonk looks to land a combination. Kickass sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Kickass misses with a takedown attempt - Hooijdonk sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Hooijdonk fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kickass. Hooijdonk lands a two punch combo.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Left hook, right uppercut from Hooijdonk. Kickass misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. No luck for Kickass with that takedown attempt. Hooijdonk looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Pierre Van Hooijdonk is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Hooijdonk's corner calls for a 1-2. Hooijdonk obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Hooijdonk connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Kickass shoots in for a takedown but Hooijdonk shows good takedown defense. Hooijdonk thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Kickass if he has to take too many more of those.

Hooijdonk uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Kickass has time to react. Kickass fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hooijdonk lands a front kick. Kickass is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Kickass could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Hooijdonk feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kickass's calf. Hooijdonk throws a right and a left that both miss. Kickass shoots in and drives through. Hooijdonk sprawls well. Hooijdonk throws a combination. Kickass tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Hooijdonk misses with a series of wild punches.
Kickass changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Hooijdonk looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Hooijdonk is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Kickass asserts his dominance and retains side control. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Kickass wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Hooijdonk, who protects the arm well.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Kickass thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Hooijdonk wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Kickass has hold of Hooijdonk's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Hooijdonk seems comfortable defending it but Kickass has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Hooijdonk is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Hooijdonk is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Kickass couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Nate Sorenson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jake Whoopin. Whoopin seems to be squinting his left eye. Perhaps he got a poke in that previous exchange. Sorenson shows no mercy and swarms him with a barage of strikes! Whoopin is backing up but Sorenson catches him with a final right hook that drops him! Whoopin covers up and the referee steps in to end the fight! Sorenson Jumps to his feet and flashes his guns to the crowd. Oh yeah, baby! How'd you like them apples?!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Cerbe lands a lovely overhand right. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Rogan. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Cerbe works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Cerbe closes the distance and clinches. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dennis Cerbe dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Cerbe paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Cerbe lands a slapping body shot.

That sent Rogan stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rogan uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Cerbe. Cerbe bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Cerbe lands a nice shot that snaps Rogan's head back.

Cerbe works Rogan's body with a nice hook. Rogan gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Cerbe. Cerbe cracks Rogan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.

Cerbe stalks Rogan and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Rogan's face. Rogan staggers backwards, shaken. Cerbe closes the distance and pushes Rogan back into the cage. Cerbe breaks the clinch.
Cerbe has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Cerbe uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Rogan defending well as Cerbe loads up on a big left hand. Cerbe lands a head shot. Cerbe throws out a powerful jab. Cerbe lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Cerbe looks to land a combination. Rogan sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Good standup being displayed there by Cerbe as he connects with a hook. Rogan doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body. Cerbe comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

I think Jinks might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to suicide machines. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jinks moves forwards but Rossi connects with a nice, crisp jab. Jinks looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Jinks will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Jinks throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Jinks takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Rossi is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round!Jinks had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Jinks scores with a punch to the head. Rossi stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. Jab by Rossi. Rossi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Jinks is breathing heavily. Rossi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. Rossi lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Jinks is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rossi keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Rossi working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Jinks blocking the ground and pound attempt from Rossi. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Rossi connects with a nice short shot to Jinks 's temple. Rossi controlling the action here. Rossi landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent. Jinks gets back to full guard.
Rossi's corner is telling him to maintain position. Let's hope that Rossi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Jinks keeping moving, preventing Rossi from controlling successfully.

Despite being in the dominant position, Michael Rossi just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky. Rossi throws a shot to the body.

The crowd cheers as Rossi lands an impressive looking overhand right. Jinks doesn't seem phased though. Rossi drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Rossi showing good wrestling skills to control the position. Rossi content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rossi stays in close to Jinks 's body and controls the position. Rossi lands a couple of decent looking shots. Jinks wants to get back to his feet but Rossi is in a dominant position and won't allow it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Rossi trying to control but Jinks is working from the bottom. Rossi is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ossini is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Ossini is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Quincy.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Knepp drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Rokuro is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Knepp decides to stand back up. Rokuro drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. A lull in the action here as Rokuro stalls from top position. Rokuro avoids the strikes from the bottom by Knepp. Rokuro wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Knepp, who protects the arm well. Knepp tries to buck Rokuro off but Rokuro is having none of it. Knepp regains half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Rokuro prevents Knepp from improving his position. Rokuro has hold of Knepp's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Knepp manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

This isn't 1993 though, so Knepp shrugs it off. Knepp bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Rokuro is looking to sinch up a triangle. Knepp throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Rokuro's body to avoid the submission. Rokuro has instead reached around Knepp's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Rokuro arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
