5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Kim Ruuti! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Ali Kessu! The judges for this bout are Arvi Lind, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kessu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kessu shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Ruuti but Ruuti pushes him off and we're back to square one. Ruuti misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Ruuti explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Kessu scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground. Kessu is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Ruuti reverses the position - he's now on top in Kessu's guard. Kessu is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Ruuti defends well. Kessu trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
That's one minute gone in the round. Kessu is looking for a triangle but Ruuti pushes his legs off easily.

Ruuti tries to stand but Kessu is controlling from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Ruuti content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Kessu keeping moving, preventing Ruuti from controlling successfully. Ruuti stands up from Kessu's guard - Ruuti perhaps looking for a knockout. Kessu looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Kim Ruuti has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ali Kessu.

Kessu is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Ruuti's half guard. Kessu thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Kessu wants to control but Ruuti is keeping him busy. Kessu passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Ruuti! Ruuti tries to hold on but Kessu postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kessu prevents Ruuti from getting the reversal. Ruuti wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Kessu.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Kessu swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Ruuti is now in Kessu's guard. A big mistake from Kessu there, giving up the dominant position! Kessu looks gassed! Kessu looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Ruuti is working Kessu over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Ruuti stands up over Kessu, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Kessu looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Ruuti trying to control the position from guard on top but Kessu is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ruuti with a nice head shot there. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Kim Ruuti will probably get the nod. That's time! Ruuti's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Curtis shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Fredriksson napping and manages to drive through into side control! Fredriksson wants to control but Curtis postures up. Curtis wants to control but Fredriksson is keeping him busy. Fredriksson manages to get back to half guard. Fredriksson slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Fredriksson is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Curtis defends well. Fredriksson not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Fredriksson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Fredriksson tries to advance position but instead Curtis slips a leg back in to half guard. Fredriksson looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fredriksson is pressing down on Curtis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Curtis is holding on for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Fredriksson trying to control the action but Curtis is working from the bottom. Fredriksson moves nicely into side control. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Curtis is not content to let Fredriksson control the position. Curtis tries to improve position but can't. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Roibos Fredriksson will probably get the nod. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fredriksson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Curtis pulls his leg out and moves away.

Fredriksson goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Curtis turns into him and now he's in Fredriksson's guard.

Curtis tries to clinch up but Fredriksson circles away and keeps his distance. Fredriksson closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Fredriksson perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Fredriksson is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Curtis doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Fredriksson. Fredriksson is looking for a kimura here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Curtis swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Curtis misses with a straight right. A nice inside leg kick there by Fredriksson. That's going to slow Curtis down. Fredriksson dives in and grabs Curtis's left leg, looking for a takedown. Curtis pushes down on Fredriksson's head and hops out. Curtis tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Fredriksson was well out of range. Poor timing from Curtis. Fredriksson takes the fight into the clinch. Curtis has had enough of the clinch but Fredriksson keeps him there for the moment. Fredriksson with an attempt at a knee that misses.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kirunda misses the jab. Kirunda looks to land a combination but Dan avoids it well. A combination from Kirunda does no damage. Kirunda takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Kirunda keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Kalema Kirunda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nice shot lands for Kirunda. Dan stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Kirunda. Dan tries to land a front kick but Kirunda steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Kirunda throws a leg kick but Dan checks it. No joy there for Kirunda, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
The fight stays on the outside here - Kirunda looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Dan has taken the fight to the clinch.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Dan goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

and Dan counters with a head kick. That will keep Kirunda thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! A low kick from Kirunda is predictable there and Dan counters with a left and a right that stings Kirunda. Dan slips a jab and a cross from Kirunda.

Kirunda throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

He's got his arms around Kirunda's waist but Kirunda gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Dan off to one side. A low kick from Kirunda misses and Dan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Kirunda stops a takedown attempt from Dan.
Kirunda blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. Kirunda breaks the clinch.
Kirunda lands a jab. Dan is trying hard to land a takedown here. Kirunda sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Whisky Dan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kirunda rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Dan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Dan thuds a left hand into Kirunda's body.
