The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A chopping leg kick lands by Zin. Zin gets the takedown into side control. Zin is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Funakoshi is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Zin thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Funakoshi sneaks back into half guard. Funakoshi works his way to full guard. Good work. Zin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Zin thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Zin drops back looking for a leg! Funakoshi is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Funakoshi manages to kick Zin off! Zin jumps back into Funakoshi's guard. Zin won't allow Funakoshi to sweep him here.

Funakoshi seems to have locked his on tight now - Zin screams in pain and taps out furiously! It certainly was a high risk move but it's paid off for Funakoshi, as he picks up the win!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! No luck with that takedown attempt from Yanagida. Yanagida uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Yamato. Yamato throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Yamato misses with an uppercut. Yanagida saw that one coming. Yamato swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Yanagida moves out of range as Yamato strikes. Yanagida showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Yamato.

Mir stands up from Rujo's guard - Mir perhaps looking for a knockout. Rujo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mir.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Rujo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Mir.
Rujo tries to close the distance and clinch but Mir swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Rujo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Mir looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Mir pushes Rujo away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Rujo gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Mir is looking to get back to his feet here but Rujo is keeping cool and he's managed to take Mir's back. Rujo is looking to control Mir but Mir is wriggling around and keeping busy.

Dog wants to control from the top but Hoyt keeps moving. Dogis looking to pass into half guard but Hoyt pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Hoyt is in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Dog is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hoyt defends well. Dog is wobbling all over the place through exhaustion. Will he make it to the final bell? Dog looking for a sweep. Not yet Dog, not yet.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Hoyt throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Dog counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Dog. Dog tries to free his leg and advance position but Hoyt is retaining full guard. Dog controlling from the top position. Hoyt utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Dog throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hoyt works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Dog trying to control but Hoyt is working from the bottom. Dog throwing strikes from guard but Hoyt blocks nicely. Dog trying to control but Hoyt is working from the bottom. JunkYard Dog has got the better of the ground game so far.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Dog with a flurry of punches that miss.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Dog uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hoyt.
Hoyt misses with a double jab
and Dog counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Dog closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. Dog trying to control from half guard but Hoyt is working away.
And that's the end of the fight! JunkYard Dog comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I think Dog has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Johnny Rabbit! The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shirou Masuda and Ren Mimura.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rabbit dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Rabbit fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Carmichael is out of range. A nice inside leg kick there by Carmichael. That's going to slow Rabbit down. Rabbit gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Carmichael looks to throw the jab but Rabbit is out of range. Rabbit throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Carmichael stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Carmichael waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Rabbit. Carmichael throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Rabbit's head. Carmichael walks into a left hand. Carmichael looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Carmichael throws a nice outside leg kick. A chopping leg kick lands by Carmichael. A jab from Carmichael misses. Carmichael cracks Rabbit with a good jab.
That's one minute gone in the round. Carmichael scores with a nice strike. Justin Carmichael is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Rabbit wants to clinch. Carmichael's corner calls for a 1-2. Carmichael obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Nice takedown defense from Carmichael. No joy for Rabbit on that attempt. Carmichael connects with a solid leg kick. Rabbit shoots in and drives through. Carmichael sprawls well. Carmichael lands a jab to the head.
Carmichael slaps away a takedown attempt from Rabbit, before circling back to the center of the mat. Justin Carmichael has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Johnny Rabbit. Rabbit is pinned up against the ropes taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Carmichael, as that shot connected.
The fighters circling - Rabbit throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Carmichael uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Carmichael throws a looping overhand right but Rabbit ducks down to avoid it. Carmichael looks to throw the jab but Rabbit is out of range. Rabbit shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Carmichael as he avoids it easily. Rabbit looks gassed! Carmichael with a hook. Rabbit throws a hook to the side of Carmichael's head but Carmichael sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Carmichael sizes up Rabbit with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Rabbit on the wrong end of a nice hook. Rabbit takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Rabbit keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Carmichael. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Carmichael.
Carmichael is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rabbit pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Rabbit takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Rabbit takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh. A good leg kick by Carmichael. Carmichael listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Carmichael cracks the inside of Rabbit's front leg. Rabbit avoids the head kick by Carmichael.
Carmichael changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Carmichael lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Rabbit is rocked!
It looks like Johnny Rabbit has been cut. Rabbit stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Carmichael. Carmichael throws out a powerful jab. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Rabbit takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Carmichael lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rabbit takes one on the button. Rabbit throws a leg kick and Carmichael makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Rabbit throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Rabbit takes one on the button. Rabbit's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Carmichael fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Rabbit on the side of the head. Rabbit takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Rabbit is still on wobbly legs! Can Carmichael finish him? Carmichael connects with a nice looking jab.
Carmichael closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Rabbit! Carmichael dives in looking to finish! Rabbit is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Justin Carmichael! Justin Carmichael retains his featherweight title!

Hao smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Acton shoots in for a double leg but Hao sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Hao scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Acton doesn't seem bothered though. Hao lands a left and a right that send Acton crashing to the mat, dazed. Hao thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Peter Acton has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Hao throws a pinpoint strike between Acton's hands that connects right on the jaw and sends Acton crashing to the floor! He's out before he even hits the mat and Hao scores a great knockout victory!
