The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paulson has taken the fight to the clinch.

Ikora is working hard here to advance position. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Paulson cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Ikora manages to regain half guard. Good work. Paulson keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Paulson working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Ikora is not content to let Paulson control the position. Paulson uses his free foot to push down on Ikora's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Ikora. Paulson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Kurisu Ikora. Well Paulson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Moto is rocked! Nakayama scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Nakayama lands a nice shot to the body.
Kwame Moto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Moto on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Moto is still on wobbly legs! Can Nakayama finish him? Moto takes one to the side of the head.
Nakayama works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Nakayama rushes Moto with punches - Moto moves straight backwards instead of circling and gets clipped by the second strike... and the third... and the fourth! Oh, Moto goes down! Nakayama follows up with more strikes and the ref steps in to end the bout!

Fuujin throws out a loose jab but Rua uses good head movement to avoid it. Fuujin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Rua. Rua throws a right and a left that Fuujin avoids nicely. A big left from Fuujin misses. Fuujin throws a looping overhand right but Rua ducks down to avoid it. Fuujin throws an overhand right that lands on Rua's shoulder, as Rua tries to avoid the shot. A lazy left from Rua finds it's target.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rua moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Fuujin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Rua. Fuujin avoids a punch combination nicely.

Fuujin loads up on a big right hand but Rua slips the punch. Rua displaying good standup as he scores with a three punch combination. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rua displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Fuujin throws out the jab. Rua uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Fuujin.
And that's the end of the fight! Vitor Rua comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Fuujin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Pithe Canthropus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dirt Magurt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Canthropus comes into the arena with Pizzaman - Trippin' On Sunshine blaring out of the sound system. Pithe Canthropus had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.2lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Dirt Magurt told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Canthropus takes a body punch but keeps moving. A head kick misses from Canthropus. Canthropus looks to score with a jab to the body but Magurt is just out of range. Magurt lands a big right hand that sends Canthropus crashing to the mat! Magurt stays standing though and waves Canthropus back to his feet!
It looks like Pithe Canthropus has been cut. Canthropus scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Canthropus trying to control the action but Magurt is working from the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Magurt can do anything to dispel that myth. Canthropus is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Magurt is trying to get back to half guard.

Will he be able to recover?!! Magurt drops Canthropus with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Canthropus! Magurt dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
