The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lauvao falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mehoff counters with a stiff right hand. Mehoff shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Mehoff was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Lauvao in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head. Lauvao tries to buck Mehoff off but he can't manage it. Lauvao trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful. Mehoff putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! You get the feeling that Lauvao really doesn't like being in this position too much.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Mehoff is working for a guillotine from mount but Lauvao frees his head quite easily.
Mehoff prevents Lauvao from getting the reversal. Mehoff working the ground and pound effectively.
Mehoff lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Lauvao is rocked! Mehoff loads up with a big shot that hurts Lauvao! He's pulled Mehoff in close but Mehoff has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Lauvao survive? More strikes from Mehoff and Lauvao is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rigogo misses with a leg kick and Lanakila counters into the clinch. Nicely done. A short right from Lanakila. Lanakila scores with a shot to the side of Rigogo's head. Lanakila throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges. Lanakila gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Rigogo regains guard.
Lanakila throws a big right hand that misses. Rigogo looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Lanakila is in close to Rigogo's body, working some short punches and elbows. Lanakila keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Rigogo's head. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Rigogo is looking for a triangle here but Lanakila uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lanakila is looking to take a break and control but Rigogo is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Lanakila works to advance to full mount. Rigogo defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Rigogo keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round. Lanakila avoids the attempt from Rigogo to control. Lanakila with the ground and pound from mount. Lanakila blocks Rigogo's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Rigogo can't escape the position.
Lanakila has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Lanakila pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Rigogo tries to lock up and control but Lanakila gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Rigogo is desperately trying to improve his position but Lanakila has a good base and remains in mount. Lanakila putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Rigogo is breathing heavily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lanakila in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.

Good agility. Hanma managing to control the position. Hanma working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Collins. Collins pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Hanma is keeping the position for now. Collins throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Collins trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Hanma can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Collins controls the pace. Hanma manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Hanma lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Collins! Collins keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

and Collins counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Collins. Collins throwing strikes but missing. Collins trying to control but Hanma is working from the bottom. Hanma trying to keep a closed guard but Collins is proving a slippery customer.

Hanma pulls Collins in to control the position. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Collins won't allow Hanma to sweep him here.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Collins avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Hanma fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Collins manages to avoid it. Collins swats away the attempt to clinch by Hanma. Hanma ducks under a wild hook from Collins. Collins throws a looping overhand right but Hanma ducks down to avoid it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Collins looks up at the clock and then as Hanma takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Collins smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Collins moves into full mount! Both fighters are breathing heavily. Hanma tries to hold on but Collins pushes him away. Collins has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hanma's face.

and Holdren counters with a nice low kick that buckles Saki's knee momentarily. Holdren throws the kick towards the body but Saki avoids it. Holdren feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Saki's calf. Saki looks gassed! Holdren gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Saki stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Holdren swivels though and keeps the full guard. Holdren tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Buck Holdren has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Roberto Saki. Holdren throws a right and a left that both miss. Holdren goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Holdren lands a nice looking kick to the body. Saki takes a step back to recover. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Saki takes one on the chin but seems OK.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hero tries to clinch up. Beckring takes a swing at Hero's ribcage but misses. Beckring throws a lazy right hand but Hero sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Hero throws the kick towards the body but Beckring avoids it. Hero slips a jab from Beckring. Hero misses with a leg kick and Beckring counters with a straight right hand. Beckring looks to score with a jab to the body but Hero is just out of range. Beckring is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Hero. Jim Beckring seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Beckring tries a low kick but Hero avoids it. Horrible takedown by Beckring or perhaps it was just good defense by Hero which made him look bad. Beckring thuds his right hand into Hero's forehead from close range. Beckring throws a jab but it's blocked by Hero. Beckring bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hero's head. Beckring swings widly with a right hand

That's three minutes gone in the round. Beckring throws a lazy right hand but Hero sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Beckring misses with a shot to the body and Hero counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Beckring thinking. Hero misses the shot to the body. Beckring feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Beckring is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Hero is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Hero has escaped and now he's on top! Beckring has control of Hero's left arm, preventing Hero from doing any damage.

Hero doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Hero manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fetisov misses with a right hand and Fetisov takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Lagus attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Fetisov walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Lagus checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side. Fetisov throws a front kick aimed at Lagus's knee but Lagus avoids it well. Lagus works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. Fetisov throws a predictable looking body shot
and Lagus counters with a straight right hand. Lagus misses with a combination
and Fetisov cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Lagus cracks the inside of Fetisov's front leg. Lagus fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. Lagus thows a leg kick but Fetisov checks it and Fetisov counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Fetisov ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Fetisov scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Fetisov jabs Lagus to the body, keeping him at a distance. Lagus throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fetisov stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. That was a close round but I would say that Ruben Lagus will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
