The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carlos throws a lazy right hand but The Hewbrew Hammer sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Carlos slaps away a takedown attempt from The Hewbrew Hammer, before circling back to the center of the mat. Carlos tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Carlos scores a takedown into full mount! The Hewbrew Hammer is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Anson shoots in from a long way out. Thompson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Jenkins. Leroy Jenkins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Thompson fails in his attempt to clinch. Thompson walks into a left hand. Thompson on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rosillo connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Penn throws out a loose jab but Rosillo uses good head movement to avoid it. Penn is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Rosillo. Penn misses with a hook. Rosillo ducked under it nicely. Penn throws a hook but Rosillo blocks it. Penn thows a body shot but no joy. Rosillo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Penn misses with a wild body shot. Rosillo looks to land a combination but Penn avoids it well. Penn moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Rosillo lands with a kick to the temple. Penn shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Penn throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Rosillo on the side of the head. Rosillo uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Penn. A head kick by Penn misses and Penn takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Rosillo fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Penn on the side of the head. Rosillo darts in and clinches Penn up against the cage. Penn has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Rosillo is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Penn is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Pepper feints and as Johnson raises his hands in defense, Pepper changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Pepper trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Pepper advances position into side control! Johnson stops Pepper from passing to mount.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
