Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Charlie Luciano (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Adams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Luciano kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Show Goes on...Violin. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Chris Adams! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Russell Pearce and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Luciano instigates a clinch. Adams is trying to pull guard but Luciano turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch. Luciano throws a punch but it's blocked by Adams. Adams goes for a takedown attempt but Luciano pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Luciano swings widly with a right hand
and Adams counters with a slapping leg kick. Luciano bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Charlie Luciano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Adams looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Charlie Luciano has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Adams. A jab from Luciano finds it's way through Adams's defenses. Adams ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Adams tries to move into range but Luciano moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Luciano closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Luciano on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Adams is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. A shot in the inside from Luciano.
That's one minute gone in the round. Luciano throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Adamss head. Luciano makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Luciano lands a shoulder strike. A short right from Luciano on the inside. A short right from Luciano. Adams tries to pull guard but Luciano won't allow it.

Luciano lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage. Luciano pushes Adams back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Luciano lands a nice shot to the body. Luciano will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Adams up against the cage. Adams drops down looking for an ankle pick but Luciano pulls his leg out and moves away.
Adams's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Luciano connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Adams scrambles back to his feet. Luciano moves into the clinch. Adams tries to score a body lock takedown but Luciano shows good agility there to stay on his feet. The referee calls for Luciano to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Both fighters working to control the clinch. Adams tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Luciano just stands there and leans against the cage. Luciano scores with a shot to the side of Adams's head. Luciano lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Luciano lands with a right to the head. Luciano lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Adams backwards.
Adams is rocked! Adams is trying to break free. Adams is still on wobbly legs! Can Luciano finish him? Luciano throws a punch but it's blocked by Adams. Luciano lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Luciano misses with some punches.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Luciano takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Adams tries to stall but Luciano uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Adams seems to have recovered his senses. Adams tries to pull guard but Luciano won't allow it.
Adams is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage. Luciano is leaning against Adams and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Luciano content to slow the pace in the clinch.

and Adams counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. Luciano lands a nice shot that snaps Adams's head back.

He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Adams tries to circle away but Luciano has him pinned against the cage. Adams tries for a takedown. No joy.
Charlie Luciano has scored more points in the clinch so far. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Luciano lands a shoulder strike. The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's going to take a lot out of Chris Adams. Luciano lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Adams backwards.
That's one minute gone in the round. Still in the clinch, Luciano scores with a nice short uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Luciano. Luciano is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace. Adams stalling.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Easton looks to land a combination. Tsunami sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. Easton bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Easton throws a combination that misses and Tsunami counters with a single leg into guard. Easton didn't expect that. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Easton wants to stand and escape but Tsunami is having none of it. Tsunami postures up and lands some nice ground and pound. Tsunami won't allow Easton to get back to his feet. Tsunami has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Tsunami is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. Tsunami drops back looking for a submission - "I'm sorry sir, but I'm gunna break your leg" says Tsunami as he cranks on the unfortunate limb! Easton screams and taps out before any major damage is done! Don't mess with Tsunami! Nice submission victory there!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Raffinski shoots in but Calahan avoids the takedown attempt easily. Calahan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Raffinski on his heels. He'll look to pass Raffinski's guard now, I'm sure. We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup. Calahan stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Raffinski swivels though and keeps the full guard. Raffinski bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Calahan's guard. Calahan keeping full guard, as Raffinski tries to pass. Calahan really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Raffinski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Raffinski advances to half guard. Raffinski is trying for a kimura here. Calahan looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Raffinski wins by kimura!

Ballard swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Ballard shoots in and drives through. Rosholt sprawls well. Ballard fails to land with a series of punches.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Ballard looking for a sweep but Rosholt has passed into full mount! Oh no! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sdsdsd shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Holopainen as he avoids it easily. Nice sprawl there from Holopainen as Sdsdsd shoots in. Sdsdsd shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Holopainen counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Hermanni Holopainen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dsdsds Sdsdsd. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Holopainen throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Holopainen preventing the sweep. Sdsdsd is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Sdsdsd not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

He's concentrating on that move too much though and Holopainen pushes past his half guard into mount! Holopainen wants to control the pace but Sdsdsd is squirming around nicely. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shimizu stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Shimizu wants it to stay on the feet. Delta closes this distance looking for a takedown but Shimizu circles away. Delta closes the distance and clinches up with Shimizu, looking for a takedown. Delta pushes Shimizu against the cage but Shimizu circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Kazuyuki Shimizu has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Duece Delta. Horrible takedown by Delta or perhaps it was just good defense by Shimizu which made him look bad. Delta changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Shimizu tries to avoid it but Delta manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Shimizu to the ground. Shimizu escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Shimizu connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Delta shoots in looking for a takedown but Shimizu manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Delta's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Delta has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Shimizu. Duece Delta seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Shimizu lands an overhand right. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Shimizu stuffs the takedown attempt from Delta. Delta gets slowly back to his feet. Shimizu throws a shot to the body.
Delta looks gassed! No luck for Delta with that takedown attempt. Shimizu tests Delta's chin there with a solid looking shot. Shimizu fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
That's one minute gone in the round. Shimizu lands a big uppercut and Delta crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Delta looks OK. Shimizu waves Delta back to his feet!
Delta is rocked! This has been an exciting period of action! Delta fails with a takedown attempt. Delta is still on wobbly legs! Can Shimizu finish him? Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Shimizu.
Delta gets clipped by a big right hand and goes down spinning to the canvas! Shimizu gets the back mount and begins to drop bombs on his rocked foe! Delta is too out of it to defend against the strikes and the referee jumps in to save him from the beatdown!

Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - an gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Defoe tries to close the distance and clinch up but Silva swats him away and circles back towards the center. A left lands for Defoe.

Silva is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Silva is looking to stall here but Defoe recovers full guard. Varz Defoe is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Silva throws an elbow that misses. Defoe uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Silva's guard. Nice move by Defoe! Silva looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Defoe passes into side control.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A jab from Batts misses. Batts moves out of range of the leg kick from Bowman. Bowman lands a nice shot that snaps Batts's head back.

and Batts counters with an inside leg kick. Bowman throws a leg kick and Batts counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Bowman pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way. Bowman throws a body kick, spinning off balance and Batts counters with a body kick that stops Bowman in his tracks momentarily. Batts throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Batts showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Bowman.

That was a close round but I would say that Billy Batts will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Billy Batts's cut. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
