The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Matae tries to land a front kick but Machida steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Matae pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Machida misses with a low kick.
Machida walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Matae checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
Machida avoids a punch combination nicely.
Matae feints and then cracks Machida's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Machida down.
Matae misses with a left hand
and Machida counters with a three punch combo that has Matae backing up. Matae nods at Machida to acknowledge the strikes.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Machida misses with a looping left.
Matae looks to throw the jab but Machida is out of range.
Machida throws a half hearted mid kick.
Matae tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Machida was well out of range. Poor timing from Matae.

Machida throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

A head kick lands from Machida that sends Matae to the canvas. Matae tries to scramble back to his feet but Machida brings him back down into side control.

It looks like Yokida Matae has been cut.
