Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ip Man (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mason Dixie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Man might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to . Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Man dives in and grabs Dixie's left leg, looking for a takedown. Dixie pushes down on Man's head and hops out.
Dixie throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Man stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Dixie tries to work over Man's front leg with a kick but Man checks it.
Man shoots in and drives through. Dixie sprawls well.
Man tries to clinch up but Dixie circles away and keeps his distance.
Dixie throws a shot from downtown. Man moves away and avoids it.
Dixie scores with a head kick.
Man on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Man misses with a body shot.
Dixie misses with a body kick.

Man gets the takedown into side control.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Dixie avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Man.

Man wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Dixie, who protects the arm well.

Dixie tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Man has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Man takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Mason Dixie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Dixie tries to work over Man's front leg with a kick but Man checks it.

Fett's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down.

Fett doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Fett misses with a punch to the body.
Fett misses with a hook from the clinch.
Fett missing with knees to the body.
McDermot blocks a punch to the side of the head.
McDermot is trying to push Fett away but Fett has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
McDermot wants to get back to striking at distance but Fett won't allow it.
Fett misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Fett is pushing McDermot up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

McDermot comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Pat McDermot.
I think McDermot has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
