Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Dominick Cruz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny Florian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dominick Cruz had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 147.8lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cruz throws a right hand that Florian ducks under and follows up with a left that Florian also avoids with ease.
Florian misses with a body kick.
Florian throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Florian takes a head kick and keeps coming.
Cruz turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Cruz throws a head kick but Florian moves out of range.
A nice combination there by Florian.
Cruz throws a mid kick that lands with a slap.
A thudding body kick lands there by Cruz!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Florian manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cruz on his heels. He'll look to pass Cruz's guard now, I'm sure.

Florian wants to stand and escape but instead Cruz has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.

Hernandez lands an uppercut out of nowhere! Yamabotcho falls backwards - clearly groggy! Hernandez dives in and finishes the fight with more strikes for a TKO finish!

De Anda is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Subic trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Subic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with De Anda. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
De Anda is desperately trying to improve his position but Subic has a good base and remains in mount.

De Anda bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
De Anda tries to free his leg and advance position but Subic is retaining full guard.
De Anda passes easily into side control. Nice work.
De Anda working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.
Check out the look on De Anda's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

De Anda is working to tighten is grip on Subic's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Subic has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but De Anda is really squeezing tight and eventually Subic passes out! De Anda breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
