Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
35 - 24 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sepp Maier! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
14 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sergio Melo! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Maier closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Melo's guard. Melo has his foot on Maier's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Maier works his way back into a safe position though. Melo throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Maier with a flurry of punches that miss. Melo wants to stand but Maier is controlling the position. Maier scoring with punches to the head and body. Maier has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Maier stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Melo swivels though and keeps the full guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Maier missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Maier is working Melo over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Melo looking for a guillotine here but Maier defends easily.
Maier drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Maier jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Maier passes easily into side control. Nice work. Maier has an Americana. Melo didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Maier is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Maier hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Sepp Maier! After the big win, Sepp Maier made sure to do all the important stuff like thanking his sponsors KAISER and telling the interviewer how much he loves him.

13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Jan Zelenka! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zelenka ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Zelenka misses with a leg kick. Zelenka dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Dessler. That did some damage! Zelenka turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Dessler throws a push kick but Zelenka slaps the foot to one side. Dessler keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Dessler fails in his attempt to clinch. Zelenka scores with the left hand. Dessler knows he should have avoided that one.
It looks like Billy Dessler has been cut. Zelenka throws out a loose jab but Dessler uses good head movement to avoid it. Zelenka misses with a series of wild punches.
Zelenka lands with a cross. Zelenka throws a nice head kick!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dessler throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Dessler has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Dessler tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Zelenka keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Dessler misses with a body kick. Zelenka tests Dessler's chin there with a solid looking shot. Donk. Dessler catches Zelenka right on the button with a cross. Billy Dessler seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's one minute gone in the round. Zelenka closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Dessler pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage. Zelenka is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. Zelenka scores with an uppercut up the middle. Dessler throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Zelenkas head. Dessler lands a glancing elbow in the clinch. Zelenka breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Dessler throws a lazy head kick and Zelenka counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Nice defenses there by Dessler. Zelenka lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Dessler throws a sloppy head kick and Zelenka moves out of range easily. A big right from Dessler misses. Zelenka misses with a body kick.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Dessler throws a head kick that misses. The fight moves into the clinch position. Dessler lands a left hand.
Zelenka trying to control the position but instead, Dessler has worked for underhooks and has pushed Zelenka into the cage. Zelenka manages to break the clinch.
Dessler throws out a leg kick but Zelenka moves out of range and Dessler only half commits. Dessler scores with a crisp jab that stopped Zelenka in his tracks. Zelenka lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Dessler moves out of range as Zelenka strikes. Zelenka has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Dessler. Dessler moves forwards but Zelenka connects with a nice, crisp jab. Dessler attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin. Dessler moves in looking to clinch but Zelenka pushes him off. Dessler on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

and Dessler counters with a nice low kick that buckles Zelenka's knee momentarily. Zelenka throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Dessler sees it coming and avoids it easily. Dessler throws a body kick but he wasn't in range. Dessler tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Zelenka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. A slapping leg kick lands for Dessler.

Zelenka lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Zelenka throws a push kick but Dessler slaps the foot to one side. Dessler misses with a low kick. Dessler tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Zelenka manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat. Dessler wants to clinch. Dessler throws a sloppy head kick and Zelenka moves out of range easily. A slapping leg kick lands for Zelenka.
Zelenka is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Dessler had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Zelenka fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Dessler manages to avoid it. Zelenka tries to clinch up but Dessler circles away and keeps his distance.

Dessler slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range. Zelenka takes a swing at Dessler's ribcage but misses. Zelenka lands with a thumping leg kick.

Zelenka blocks a leg kick. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Zelenka fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Dessler is out of range. Dessler darts in and clinches Zelenka up against the cage. Dessler blocks an uppercut.
Zelenka has had enough of the clinch but Dessler keeps him there for the moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Zelenka lands a lovely overhand right. Zelenka throws a right and a left that Dessler avoids nicely. Zelenka's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. A slow jab from Zelenka misses its intended target. Decent striking displayed by Dessler there. Dessler misses with a low kick.

It connects and Zelenka has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Nice cross by Zelenka. Zelenka has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Zelenka misses with a straight left.

Dessler has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Dessler avoids the body shot from Zelenka.
Dessler tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Zelenka paws at him with a jab and circles away. Zelenka moves into range and connects with a jab. An inside leg kick lands from Zelenka. A head kick misses from Zelenka. Dessler uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Zelenka has time to react. A chopping leg kick lands by Dessler. Zelenka connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Zelenka avoids a low kick by using good footwork. Dessler throws a head kick that misses. Dessler takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Zelenka swings for the body but Dessler moves out of range.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Dessler defending well as Zelenka loads up on a big left hand. Zelenka blocks a low kick nicely. Dessler tries a low kick but Zelenka avoids it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Ouch! a nice leg kick from Zelenka, right into the meat.

Dessler obviously looking to wear him down.
Dessler takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Some bone on bone action there as Zelenka checks a low kick. Luckily it wasn't a particularly hard one. Dessler throws a body punch but Zelenka moves out of range. Dessler stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Zelenka. Dessler on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

Dessler scrambles back to his feet. Good work by Zelenka as he checks the leg kick. Zelenka dips down and scores with a jab to the body. A good leg kick by Zelenka. Zelenka throws a low kick but it's checked well by Dessler. Dessler looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Dessler throws a right and a left that Zelenka avoids nicely. Dessler misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Dessler tries to move into range but Zelenka moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand. Dessler displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Zelenka throws out the jab. Dessler scores with a slapping inside leg kick. Zelenka clobbers Dessler with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Dessler looks for the body kick but Zelenka saw that one coming. Dessler fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Dessler avoids the head kick by Zelenka.
Zelenka tries to close the distance and clinch but Dessler swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Zelenka cracks Dessler with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Dessler fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Zelenka wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Zelenka waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Dessler. Zelenka thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Dessler if he has to take too many more of those.

And that's the end of the fight! Jan Zelenka comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Zelenka has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! McMurphy misses with a punch on the inside.
Slayer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Slayer lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Slayer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

McMurphy on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. McMurphy tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. And that's the end of the fight! Dragon Slayer showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Slayer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Batson throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
