The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A big right from Alto misses. Alto walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Alto slaps away a takedown attempt from Groove, before circling back to the center of the mat. Groove shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Alto counters with a one-two to the body. Groove fails to land the takedown. Donnie Alto has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Robert Groove. Groove dodges the punch combination from Alto.
Alto pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Alto swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Alto misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Alto misses with a straight left. Donnie Alto seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Alto gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Groove wants to get back to striking at distance but Alto won't allow it.

It looks like Robert Groove has been cut. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Alto rushes Groove and presses him up against the cage. Groove is still on wobbly legs! Can Alto finish him? Alto pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Alto looks to land a left hand but Groove moved out of range nicely. Groove has a takedown stuffed. Alto drops Groove with a huge uppercut! Groove drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes. Alto is raining down punches and the ref stops the fight! This one is all over!

9 - 14 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, James Peters! The judges for this bout are , Jack Bonds and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A telegraphed takedown attempt from Abott is defended easily by Peters. Peters motions for Abott to come forward. Peters throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Peters tries to clinch up. Abott leaves Peters with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Abott feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Peters seems keen to control Abott's posture. Abott in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Peters has a closed guard, preventing Abott from standing up. Peters looking for a sweep. Not yet Peters, not yet.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Abott is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Peters jumps into side control! Peters trying to control the position but Abott is working away. Abott tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Peters wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Abott taking a bit of punishment here - Peters scoring with strikes. Peters trying to control the action but Abott is working from the bottom. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Peters tries to bum rush Abott with a series of wild strikes but Abott uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Abott has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Peters works Abott's body with a nice hook. Peters changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Abott tries to avoid it but Peters manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Abott to the ground. Abott escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Abott looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Abott moves nicely into side control.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Abott has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Abott is bucking up trying to escape but Peters cracks him with another couple of good strikes. Peters cracks Abott with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Abott is squirming around, avoiding Peters's attempts to control the action. Abott throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing. Peters tries to close the distance and clinch up but Abott swats him away and circles back towards the center. The fight stays on the outside here - Abott looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Abott rushes Peters and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Abott gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Peters regains guard.
