The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Joseph moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Gambino wants to land a leg kick but Joseph is out of range. A shot to the liver by Gambino. Beautiful body shot. Joseph uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Gambino. Joseph smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Joseph has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Gambino changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Joseph looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Joseph managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Gambino.
Joseph is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gambino postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.

Gambino moves into range and connects with a jab. Joseph lands a left and a right that send Gambino crashing to the mat, dazed. Joseph thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
Gambino is rocked! The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. A punch combination from Gambino misses. Oh Gambino is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Gambino on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Joseph cracks Gambino with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Gambino tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Joseph pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Gambino is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

We've been informed that Coll has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. A big left from Coll misses. It looks like Leonidas Sheynauvah has been cut. McGee lands a really nice looking cross but Sheynauvah seems unphased.
Sheynauvah throws a half hearted mid kick. Sheynauvah lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Sheynauvah displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as McGee throws out the jab. McGee throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Sheynauvah misses with a left hand and McGee counters with a stiff right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Sheynauvah misses with a wild body shot. McGee moves into range and connects with a jab. McGee tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Sheynauvah was well out of range. Poor timing from McGee. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Malham looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Leach is fending him off so far but Malham persists. Nope, Leach circles away and we're back to standing. Malham has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Malham shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Leach but Leach pushes him off and we're back to square one. No luck for Malham with that takedown attempt. Matt Leach has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Malham. Leach keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Leach lands with an overhand left. Malham darts in looking for a takedown but Leach gets double underhooks and turns Malham into the cage. Leach prevents a takedown attempt there.

Leach manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing. Malham tries to clinch up but Leach circles away and keeps his distance. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Ghostal's guard. Kazarian wants to pass the guard but Ghostal is keeping the position.
