The bell rings for round one and we are underway! TheMan thows a body shot but no joy. TheMan throws a chopping leg kick but Farseer manages to avoid taking any serious damage. TheMan moves out of range of the leg kick from Farseer. Farseer throws a hook but TheMan avoids it easily. TheMan throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Farseer throws a leg kick but TheMan sees it coming and moves out of range. Good standup being displayed there by TheMan as he connects with a hook. Nice shot by Farseer.
It looks like Stan TheMan has been cut. TheMan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. TheMan slips a straight right by Farseer. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! TheMan moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Farseer tries to clinch but TheMan moves out of range. Farseer connects with a single shot there. Farseer drops his hands momentarily and TheMan takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
It looks like Stromile Farseer has been cut. Farseer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by TheMan. TheMan checks a low kick from Farseer. Farseer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but TheMan moves out of range and avoids them all easily. TheMan scores with a body shot.

TheMan throws a hook to the side of Farseer's head but Farseer sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Farseer throws a right hand that TheMan ducks under and follows up with a left that TheMan also avoids with ease. Farseer tried to score with a low kick but TheMan checks it. Farseer throws a sloppy head kick and TheMan moves out of range easily. Farseer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Farseer has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. TheMan throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. TheMan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. A looping hook to the body misses from TheMan. Farseer does a little dance to reset his feet. TheMan scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. Stromile Farseer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. TheMan takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! TheMan lands a head shot.

We've been told by TheMan's head coaches at ~T~ Troid - Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Farseer lands a front kick. A big right from Farseer misses. TheMan will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

TheMan throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Farseer forces TheMan back against the cage and clinches. Farseer lands a shoulder strike. TheMan lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. TheMan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Jab, jab by TheMan - just one landing. TheMan slips under a jab from Farseer. Farseer tries to clinch but TheMan moves out of range. Farseer shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Farseer throws a chopping leg kick but TheMan manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Farseer lands a body shot.
TheMan takes a swing at Farseer's ribcage but misses. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Farseer tries to bum rush TheMan with a series of wild strikes but TheMan uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Farseer tries to close the distance and clinch but TheMan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Farseer scores with the left hand. TheMan knows he should have avoided that one. Farseer ducks under a wild hook from TheMan. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Stromile Farseer will probably get the nod. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Farseer lands with a shot to the body. Farseer throws a looping overhand right but TheMan ducks down to avoid it. Farseer takes a swing at TheMan's ribcage but misses. Farseer misses with a leg kick. Farseer throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
TheMan has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Good leg kick by Farseer there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Young has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Young takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hara takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Piper shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lester but Lester pushes him off and we're back to square one. A looping hook to the body misses from Lester. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Piper jumps guard but Lester stands there with Piper around his waist. Piper gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
I was talking to Lester's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Piper tries for a takedown but Lester manages to get underhooks.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup. Lester is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Piper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Lester slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Lester controls Piper momentarily but Piper frees himself.

Lester slows the pace down in half guard. Piper is looking for a sweep. Lester is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Piper is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Piper swats away the attempt to clinch by Lester. Lester throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Piper stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Proudstar wants to clinch but Speed slips to the side and Speed counters with a good low kick that Proudstar was not able to check. Proudstar scores with a sloppy right hand. Speed should have avoided that one.
It looks like Daniel Speed has been cut. Proudstar tries to clinch up but Speed circles away and keeps his distance. Speed waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Proudstar. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Speed has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Speed throws a head kick that misses and Proudstar counters with a good low kick that Speed was not able to check. Speed stuns Proudstar with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Proudstar throws a lazy body kick and Speed counters with a body kick that stops Proudstar in his tracks momentarily. Both of our modern day gladiators look out of it here - a gruelling 5 rounds of action taking it's toll on them, no doubt. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Speed misses with a head kick.
Proudstar tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Proudstar scores with a decent looking hook. Speed throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Proudstar sees it coming and avoids it easily. Proudstar misses with a leg kick. Speed lands with a nice body punch. Proudstar bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. Speed lands a really nice looking cross but Proudstar seems unphased.

He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming. A low kick from Proudstar is predictable there and Speed makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick. Speed scores with a kick to the body.

Proudstar gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. This has been an exciting period of action! Proudstar throws a low kick but Speed moves out of range easily. Daniel Speed is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Proudstar goes for a double leg but Speed avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Speed continues to drive forward. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for James Proudstar. That's going to take a lot out of him. Speed tries to work over Proudstar's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Still in the clinch, Speed scores with a nice short uppercut. Proudstar lands with a left to the head. Proudstar tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Speed wants to get back to striking at distance but Proudstar won't allow it.

Proudstar swings wildly with an uppercut but Speed uses good head movement to avoid it. Proudstar tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Proudstar will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows. Proudstar swings wildly with an uppercut but Speed uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Daniel Speed. I think Speed has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
