Undercard bout

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rob Rod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Wibowo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kevin Wibowo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Wibowo!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Daniel Franklin and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wibowo fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Wibowo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Wibowo darts in looking for a takedown but Rod gets double underhooks and turns Wibowo into the cage.
Rod is pressed up against the cage. Wibowo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Rod down to the mat. Rod avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Rob Rod has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kevin Wibowo.
Wibowo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rod as he jumps to the side.

Wibowo gets control of Rod's arms and successfully pulls guard. Wibowo will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Wibowo is controlling the pace.

Wibowo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rod is just riding it out for now. Wibowo eventually gives up the hold.

Wibowo has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Wibowo has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Rod's face.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Wibowo working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Rod turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Wibowo off and cradles Rod's limp body as Wibowo celebrates with his corner.

Yurameshi's coach down at LOD: Lightning Kicks was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Yurameshi's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
I'm just looking down at my notes here and I see that.... oh! Yurameshi has cracked Alvarez with a big right, followed by a left! He's out on his feet! Yurameshi lands another huge swinging hook and Alvarez tumbles to the canvas! The ref dives in to save Alvarez, before Yurameshi can land any more shots!

and Chambers comes in over the top with a devastating right hand! Stuka stumbles back against the cage, looking to regain his senses but Chambers is on him like rabid pit bull! Stuka slumps to the ground under a storm of punches and this fight is over!

Fabinal throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Morrison tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Fabinal is in Morrison's guard.

Fabinal has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Morrison to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Fabinal is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Morrison pulls down on the head and he's put Fabinal to sleep! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Unkown throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Dupont on the side of the head.
A bone on bone clash there as Unkown blocks the leg kick.
Unkown comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Dupont looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Dupont steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Unkown. That one must have hurt.
