The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A cross from Mies lands. Jon throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A left lands for Mies. Jon walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Jon throws a right hand that Mies ducks under and follows up with a left that Mies also avoids with ease. Jon closes the distance but Mies moves to the side and Mies counters with a nice leg kick. Jon misses with a double jab
and Mies counters with a body kick that stops Jon in his tracks momentarily. Jon misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Jon falls off balance throwing a combination
and Mies connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jon throws a right hand that Mies ducks under and follows up with a left that Mies also avoids with ease. Mies has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Jon is landing a low percentage of strikes. Mies lands a nice hook to Jon's body. Jon takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Mies moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Mies scores with a jab to the head.
Mies connects with a right that clearly hurt Jon. He's backed up against the cage with nowhere to go as Mies proceeds to tee off with vicious combinations till Jon collapses and taps out under the pressure!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Army shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Blake manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Blake controls Army momentarily but Army frees himself. Army throws a strike but Blake rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Army had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Blake defends it easily. Blake wants to control from the top but Army keeps moving. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Army looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Blake passes into half guard.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! De Touro shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lightning as he jumps to the side. Lightning lands with a hook. De Touro tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head. Horrible takedown attempt by De Touro or perhaps it was just good defense by Lightning, which made it look bad. Nice cross by Lightning. De Touro dives in for a single leg takedown but Lightning sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aldebaran De Touro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Lightning pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Lightning connects with a jab. Lightning leaves De Touro with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. The crowd cheers as Lightning lands an impressive looking overhand right. De Touro doesn't seem phased though. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fists Lightning seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Lightning's jab looks to have found its range, popping De Touro under the eye. Lightning lands a glancing blow to the side of De Touro's head.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. De Touro tries to bench press Lightning off him but Lightning keeps the position. De Touro seems to have got his legs back now. Sloppy strikes there by Lightning. De Touro defending against the ground and pound. De Touro is looking to reverse the position. Lightning is staying tight to De Touro's torso, preventing him from escaping. De Touro is trying to control Lightning's posture but Lightning avoids it. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Lightning working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though. Lightning wants to lay and pray for a moment but De Touro keeps working. The strikes coming from Lightning are missing the target in this wave of attacks. De Touro isn't going anywhere.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! West lands with a kick to the temple. Sobral shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" West lands with an uppercut that bounces Sobral off the cage and back into range. West misses with a left hand and Sobral counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Sobral. Sobral got a little sloppy there for a moment and West has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sobral has managed to get both his arms back between West's legs - danger averted. West isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Sobral stacks West on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Sobral! Sobral tries for a kimura but West is defending well. Sobral thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. West is looking for a sweep.
