I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Calvin Ulrich was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Dipper lands a left and a right that send Ulrich crashing to the mat, dazed. Dipper thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

Malenko appears to be looking for a counter takedown.
Simmons fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Simmons doesn't manage to clinch there - Malenko circles away.
Simmons closes the distance and clinches up with Malenko, looking for a takedown. Simmons pushes Malenko against the cage but Malenko circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Malenko misses with a body shot.
Malenko bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Simmons's head.

Simmons is rocked!
Simmons drops his hands momentarily. Malenko doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Simmons staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Simmons doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva is looking to slow Scott down with leg kicks.

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.

Scott is trying to force a seperation but Silva has the dominant position.

Scott creates a bit of distance and throws an elbow that only just misses.

Scott gets tackled into the cage by Silva. Silva maintains the clinch.
Scott fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
Silva misses with a knee to the head.
Scott on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Scott creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

Silva is trying to maintain a safe position but Scott gets an underhook and turns Silva into the cage.
Silva lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Scott swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Scott breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Silva moves out of range of the leg kick from Scott.
Silva displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Scott throws out the jab.
Scott swats away the attempt to clinch by Silva.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Silva cracks Scott with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Silva has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.
Scott misses with a straight right.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Scott counters with a leg kick.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Scott escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Silva wants to clinch.
Silva doesn't manage to clinch there - Scott circles away.

Scott trying to control the position but instead, Silva has worked for underhooks and has pushed Scott into the cage.

Scott breaks from the clinch.

Silva tries to clinch there but Scott circles away.
Silva wants to clinch up but Scott keeps it at a distance.

Silva clinches.
Scott is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Silva is keeping busy.

A slow jab from Scott misses its intended target.
Scott is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Silva's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems.

and Scott counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Scott throws a series of punches but Silva avoids them all with ease.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Scott paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Scott throws a right hand that Silva ducks under and follows up with a left that Silva also avoids with ease.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The fighters circling - Scott throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Silva lands a really nice looking cross but Scott seems unphased.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Silva tries to clinch but Scott is having none of it.
A little feinted left hand from Scott on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Silva walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Silva is rocked!
Scott with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Silva is still on wobbly legs! Can Scott finish him?
Scott changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Silva rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Scott counters with a huge overhand right that connects right on the temple, sending him crumpling, face first to the floor! This one is all over! What a knockout!

Lewis Scott is the new welterweight champion!
Lewis Scott was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
