10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Artie DeVanzo! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
9 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tanner Pond! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! DeVanzo connects with a right hand. Pond shakes it off. Pond throws a hook to the side of DeVanzo's head but DeVanzo sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. DeVanzo throws a leg kick enabling Pond to counter with a crisp jab. DeVanzo throws a series of punches but Pond avoids them all with ease. Pond missing with a left hand there. DeVanzo was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. DeVanzo throwing a counter right hand but Pond manages to avoid it. Pond throws a leg kick but DeVanzo checks it. Pond lands a nice looking body shot.
Pond throws a sloppy head kick and DeVanzo moves out of range easily. DeVanzo appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body. DeVanzo clinches with his opponent.

DeVanzo distracts Pond with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Pond is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. DeVanzo has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. DeVanzo lands a couple of elbows. Pond wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. DeVanzo lands a couple of digs. Pond is controlling DeVanzo's posture.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. DeVanzo seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym. Pond fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Pond cracks a nice hook into DeVanzo's ribs. Pond blocks the body kick.

That was a close round but I would say that Artie DeVanzo will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Pond will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
DeVanzo jabbing away but nothing is landing. Pond looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it. Pond throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck DeVanzo on the side of the head. DeVanzo slips under a jab from Pond. Pond bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps DeVanzo's head backwards. Pond feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends DeVanzo sprawling to the canvas! DeVanzo rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Pond finish him?!
DeVanzo is rocked! The crowd are loving this. Great action here. DeVanzo throws a leg kick that misses. Oh DeVanzo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! DeVanzo throws a jab but it's blocked by Pond. DeVanzo throws the left hand but Pond avoids the punch easily. DeVanzo seems to have got his legs back now. Tanner Pond seems to be getting the better of the standup. Pond steps to the side to avoid the strikes from DeVanzo. Pond staying out of range there. Pond misses with a wild body shot. Pond misses with an uppercut. DeVanzo saw that one coming. Pond tried to score with a low kick but DeVanzo checks it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pond misses the shot to the body. DeVanzo takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. A telegraphed right hand from DeVanzo misses the target. DeVanzo lands the left hand. DeVanzo scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Pond has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. DeVanzo throws a wild body kick that Pond sees coming a mile off. A decent looking cross lands there for Pond. Pond looks to score with a jab to the body but DeVanzo is just out of range. Artie DeVanzo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pond throws a quick inside leg kick. Pond throws a hook but DeVanzo avoids it easily. A nice combination there by DeVanzo.

DeVanzo defending well as Pond loads up on a big left hand. Pond listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Pond lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw. Pond bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in DeVanzo's guard. Pond is looking to work some ground and pound but DeVanzo has wrist control. Pond wants to stand and escape but instead DeVanzo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Pond controlling the position. Pond is trying to control the position but DeVanzo postures up. Pond managing to control the position. Artie DeVanzo overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Pond's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Hulk throws a leg kick and Simans counters with a single leg into guard. Hulk didn't expect that. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Simans seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Hulk pulls Simans in close to prevent any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hulk keeping moving, preventing Simans from controlling successfully. Simans trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Hulk manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Simans trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Simans escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Hulk gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Hulk is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Simans is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Simans controlling Hulk's posture.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hulk trying to control but Simans is working from the bottom. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. Simans isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Hulk stacks Simans on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Hulk! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hulk wants to lay and pray for a moment but Simans keeps working.
