Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Alfredo Gomez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Augusto Pinochet (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gomez comes to the cage accompanied by We Can't Stop. Augusto Pinochet told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alfredo Gomez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
22 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Augusto Pinochet! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, and Jack Bonds.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gomez keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Gomez gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Gomez misses with a combination
and Pinochet counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Gomez looks to land a combination but Pinochet avoids it well. Gomez takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Gomez moves into the clinch successfully.
Pinochet goes for a takedown attempt but Gomez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Gomez moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Pinochet shoots for a double leg takedown but Gomez sprawls well. He's pushed Pinochet's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Pinochet tries for a takedown but Gomez sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Gomez is looking to counter punch. Gomez looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Alfredo Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augusto Pinochet. Nice defenses there by Gomez. Pinochet uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Gomez. Pinochet misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. It looked like Gomez was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Gomez throws a hook but Pinochet blocks it. Pinochet looks like he wants to counter punch here. Pinochet looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Gomez!

Gomez can't do much from the bottom here. Pinochet remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Pinochet wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Gomez, who protects the arm well. Pinochet wants to lay and pray for a moment but Gomez keeps working. Gomez defending against the ground and pound. Pinochet looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Pinochet tries to move to mount but Gomez blocks the move with his legs.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Pinochet decides to stand back up. Gomez throws a hook to the side of Pinochet's head but Pinochet sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Gomez misses with a straight right. Pinochet changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Gomez is looking to clinch. Pinochet moves in looking to clinch but Gomez pushes him off. Pinochet looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Gomez is fending him off so far but Pinochet persists. Nope, Gomez circles away and we're back to standing. Pinochet looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pinochet avoids a punch combination nicely.
Pinochet throws a body punch but Gomez moves out of range. Gomez swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. Alfredo Gomez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Pinochet looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard. Gomez is looking to improve his position.

Augusto Pinochet dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Pinochet shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it. Pinochet ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Pinochet is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Gomez with a body shot. Gomez throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Pinochet ducks under a wild hook from Gomez. Pinochet slips under a jab from Gomez. Pinochet misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Gomez slips under a jab. A quick step to the side and Gomez tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Gomez moves in looking to clinch but Pinochet pushes him off. Gomez throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Gomez looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Gomez missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. Augusto Pinochet has got the better of the ground game so far. Pinochet has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gomez can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Pinochet avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Pinochet keeping moving, preventing Gomez from controlling successfully. Pinochet controls Gomez momentarily but Gomez frees himself.

A shot to the liver by Gomez. Beautiful body shot. Gomez fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Pinochet doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Gomez misses with a looping right. Gomez is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Pinochet's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Gomez lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Pinochet moves away from the strike by Gomez. Pinochet is looking to clinch. A little feinted left hand from Gomez on the counter but he doesn't commit to it. Pinochet throws out a token jab with nothing on it. It looked like Gomez was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Pinochet. No luck for Pinochet with that takedown attempt. Pinochet fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pinochet shoots in but no luck this time. Alfredo Gomez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Augusto Pinochet. Pinochet moves out of range of the strikes. Gomez throws a body punch but Pinochet moves out of range. Pinochet decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Gomez misses the jab. Pinochet throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Gomez was covering up waiting for the punch and Pinochet finishes the takedown easily into guard. Pinochet prevents Gomez from getting back to his feet.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Gomez can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Pinochet controls the pace. Pinochet trying to control the position from guard on top but Gomez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Gomez looking for a sweep. Not yet Gomez, not yet.
The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. Pinochet misses with a takedown attempt and Gomez counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Pinochet fails with a takedown attempt. A momentary lapse in concentration from Gomez enables Pinochet to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gomez manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Pinochet's corner is telling him to maintain position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Pinochet throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Gomez works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Pinochet trying to control but Gomez is working from the bottom. Gomez is pulling down on Pinochet's head to control his posture.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Augusto Pinochet. I think Pinochet has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

It looks like Shaun Johnson has been cut. Tyrmaaja displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Johnson. Johnson just misses with a punch to the body.
Tyrmaaja tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Johnson was well out of range. Poor timing from Tyrmaaja. A good leg kick by Johnson. Johnson lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Tyrmaaja at a distance.
Tyrmaaja throws a nice inside leg kick. Johnson connects with a good right hand that stumbles Tyrmaaja. Tyrmaaja circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Johnson shoots for a takedown but Tyrmaaja saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. A nice side step and Tyrmaaja releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Johnson connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet. Shaun Johnson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Johnson connects with a body shot that sends Tyrmaaja's belly button to the back. Tyrmaaja slips under a jab. This has been an exciting period of action! A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Johnson. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shaun Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Johnson misses with a wild combination.

Tyrmaaja is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position. Johnson is pressing down on Tyrmaaja's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Tyrmaaja is looking to stand up but Johnson won't let him. Tyrmaaja working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound. Johnson has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Tyrmaaja pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Tyrmaaja gets to his feet and stands over Johnson, holding his ankles. He dives in with a big left hand that connects! Johnson felt that one! Tyrmaaja unloads more punches and elbows and this one is over! The ref has dived in to save Johnson from any more punishment!

Hammerfist ducks under a wild hook from Barksdale. Hammerfist is looking to slow Barksdale down with leg kicks. Barksdale throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Hammerfist is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Barksdale with a body shot. Hammerfist misses with a body kick. Hammerfist connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Barksdale momentarily.
A looping hook to the body misses from Barksdale. Hammerfist does a little dance to reset his feet. Hammerfist has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Hammerfist there as he acknowledges the shot. Hammerfist lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Barksdale looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. The fight stays on the outside here - Barksdale looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hammerfist uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Barksdale takes a shot right to the bread basket. A big left from Hammerfist misses. Barksdale was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. Barksdale connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Hammerfist throws a body punch but Barksdale moves out of range. Barksdale lands a nice hook to Hammerfist's body. Hammerfist takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. Barksdale misses the shot to the body. Barksdale fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. The fighters circling - Hammerfist throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Barksdale takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Jermaine Barksdale seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Hammerfist takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Hammerfist defending well as Barksdale loads up on a big left hand. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Barksdale throws a body punch but Hammerfist moves out of range. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hammerfist lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Barksdale has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Barksdale and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Barksdale is looking to wear down Hammerfist with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment. Hammerfist takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Barksdale. Hammerfist misses with a two punch combination.

Hammerfist throws a shot from downtown. Barksdale moves away and avoids it. Barksdale throws a looping overhand right but Hammerfist ducks down to avoid it. As Barksdale backs off Hammerfist throws a huge counter combo but Barksdale manages to avoid it all. Barksdale throws a body punch but Hammerfist moves out of range. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Hashimoto scores with a slapping inside leg kick. A swing and a miss from Hashimoto. A counter left hand to the body from The Pirate misses its target. That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hashimoto crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from The Pirate - the referee stops the clock and Hashimoto gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says The Pirate. Hashimoto manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes. The Pirate is looking to clinch but Hashimoto is avoiding it.
Hashimoto is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Keiji Hashimoto. I think Hashimoto has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rad pushing out the jab but it's not landing. Rad gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Veide throws out a loose jab but Rad uses good head movement to avoid it. Rad ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Veide moves away. Veide appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick. Rad dives in for a single leg takedown but Veide sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Veide lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Rad at a distance.

With the two fighters working up against the cage, Rad just misses with a elbow thrown towards Veide's brow. Veide on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Veide digs a right hand underneath Rad's ribcage. Rad let out a lung full of air as it connected. Veide swings wildly with an uppercut but Rad uses good head movement to avoid it. Veide doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Veide on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Veide tries to throw a body punch but Rad avoids it by throwing Veide back against the cage. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Varg Veide dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Varg Veide is winning the standup battle so far. A looping hook to the body misses from Veide. Rad does a little dance to reset his feet. Veide lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Rad takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Veide tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Rad throws a head kick that misses. Veide with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Veide checks a leg kick. Veide explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. A slapping leg kick lands for Veide.
Veide connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Rad momentarily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Veide cracks Rad with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Rad tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Veide pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Rad is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:51 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Varg Veide! Varg Veide retains his heavyweight title! Varg Veide decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
