The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minion stuffs the takedown attempt from Lah Troth Tohlah. Lah Troth Tohlah gets slowly back to his feet.
Minion tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Lah Troth Tohlah manages to circle out of the way.
Lah Troth Tohlah shoots in looking for a takedown. Minion tries to sprawl out of it but Lah Troth Tohlah keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Minion manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

I was talking to Minion's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Mega Minion has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jiji Lah Troth Tohlah.
Lah Troth Tohlah is trying to pull guard but Minion turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Minion lands with an uppercut that bounces Lah Troth Tohlah off the cage and back into range.

Minion feints and then cracks Lah Troth Tohlah's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Lah Troth Tohlah down.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ragnar Sigurdsson!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sigurdsson lands a right hook to the body.
No luck for Lopp with that takedown attempt.
Lopp's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Sigurdsson connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Lopp scrambles back to his feet.
Sigurdsson misses with a body shot.
Lopp has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Sigurdsson finds it's way round the side to connect with Lopp's head.
Lopp takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Sigurdsson circles away from the clinch attempt.
Sigurdsson lands a jab to the head.

Lopp drives through and clinches with Sigurdsson against the cage.
Sigurdsson lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Lopp.
Sigurdsson stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
Lopp is breathing heavily.
Lopp is trying to pull guard but Sigurdsson has him pressed against the cage.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Lopp wants to take the fight to the mat but Sigurdsson manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lop Lopp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Sigurdsson will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Lopp up against the cage.
Sigurdsson presses Lopp against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Sigurdsson lands with a left to the head.
Sigurdsson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Lopp is trying to maintain a safe position but Sigurdsson gets an underhook and turns Lopp into the cage.

Sigurdsson throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Lopp has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.

A nice left hand lands by Sigurdsson.
Sigurdsson digs a right hand underneath Lopp's ribcage. Lopp let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Lopp tries to land a knee to the head but Sigurdsson blocks with his arms.

Sigurdsson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Lopp tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Sigurdsson counters with a stiff right hand.

Sigurdsson forces Lopp back against the cage and clinches.

Sigurdsson manages to break the clinch.
Lopp on the wrong end of a nice jab.

Lopp is rocked!
Sigurdsson is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Lopp flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Lopp is out cold! Sigurdsson holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Ragnar Sigurdsson! Ragnar Sigurdsson retains his light heavyweight title!
