Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Arthur Bishop! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Edgars Simans! The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Simans motions for Bishop to come forward. Simans throws a leg kick but it misses it's target. Bishop attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Simans bobs and weaves and then throws a good body kick. Bishop looks to land a left hand but Simans moved out of range nicely. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Simans has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Bishop slips under a jab. Bishop just misses with a punch to the body.
Simans scores with a decent looking hook. Bishop throws out a leg kick but Simans moves out of range and Bishop only half commits. Simans tries to clinch up. Bishop shoots in and bounces Simans off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Bishop trying to control but Simans is working from the bottom. Bishop working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
That's one minute gone in the round. Simans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Bishop's guard. Simans sitting in guard, not really doing much. Bishop escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Simans gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Simans preventing the sweep. Simans slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Simans is continuing to stall. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Bishop is on top in guard.

No joy there for Simans, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

That was a close round but I would say that Arthur Bishop will probably get the nod. That's time! Back to the action!

Simans turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bishop lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

Simans rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Bishop moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Bishop scoring well with a low kick there.

Simans shrugs it off though. Bishop dives in and grabs Simans's left leg, looking for a takedown. Simans pushes down on Bishop's head and hops out. Simans takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Great action here. Simans lands a hook to the side of the head. Simans works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Bishop misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Simans.
Simans bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Bishop's head backwards. Simans moves out of range of the leg kick from Bishop. A nice inside leg kick there by Simans. That's going to slow Bishop down. Simans sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs. Simans slips a straight right by Bishop. Simans scores with a body shot.
Bishop throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Simans's waist but Simans gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Bishop off to one side. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Arthur Bishop. That's going to take a lot out of him. Simans buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Simans is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range. Bishop tries to clinch there but Simans circles away.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Queen throws a solid leg kick but Koski takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Queen. Queen has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Queen thows a leg kick but Koski checks it and Koski counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Queen is lucky that one didn't land flush. Queen finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Queen tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Koski wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Queen takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Queen is looking to reverse the position. Queen looks to move to half guard but instead Koski has passed into mount! Damn! Oliver Queen has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
