The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bankowski misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Li lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Li fails with the takedown.
Li has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Bankowski is landing a low percentage of strikes.
Bankowski just misses with a punch to the body.
Li tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Bankowski paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Bankowski steps into range and unloads a brutal right left combo! Li is out on his feet! Bankowski sets himself and nearly takes Li's head off with a straight right, sending him crashing to the mat! Wow, that was nasty... but awesome! Wooo!

Huia throws a jab but it's blocked by Wright.
Huia misses with a looping right.

Wright shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Wright was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
Wright remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Huia tries to strike from the bottom but misses.

Wright has an Americana. Huia didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Wright is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Wright hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Metamoris shoots in looking for a takedown but The Tall manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Metamoris's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Metamoris shoots for a double leg takedown but The Tall sprawls well. He's pushed Metamoris's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
The Tall leaves Metamoris with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
The Tall tries to counter by closing the distance.

Metamoris fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. The Tall sprawls well initially but Metamoris persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Metamoris escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. The Tall gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

The Tall content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Metamoris has locked up a guillotine! Metamoris's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? The Tall is holding on here and Metamoris must be using up a lot of energy. The Tall has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Metamoris gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Shiroo has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
