The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Popper throws a shot from downtown. Komaroff moves away and avoids it.
Popper jabs Komaroff to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Popper leaves Komaroff with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Komaroff throws a hook to the side of Popper's head but Popper sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Komaroff throws a jab when Popper was well out of range.
Komaroff looks to land a combination but Popper avoids it well.
Komaroff is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

and Popper holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Popper.
Komaroff is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.

Popper throws an overhand right that lands on Komaroff's shoulder, as Komaroff tries to avoid the shot.
Popper throws an overhand right from the outside, which connects and sends Komaroff stumbling backwards into the cage! Komaroff bounces back off the cage towards Popper, who cracks him with a two punch combination that drops him to his knees! Popper lands two more shots before the referee has chance to intervene - what a finish! Popper celebrates with his corner as the crowd cheer loudly.

De Vries has chosen Sigur Ros - Svefn-g-englar as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Okunaba feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends De Vries sprawling to the canvas! De Vries rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Okunaba finish him?!
