And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Matsuda Taro!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Vogel fails to land the takedown.

Vogel closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Taro to the mat! Taro manages to get full guard.
Vogel has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Vogel trying to control the position from guard on top but Taro is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Vogel in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Vogel pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Taro is keeping the position for now.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vogel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Vogel looking to sit in guard and control but Taro gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Taro controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Vogel on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Vogel tries to get out of the position.
Let's hope that Taro has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Taro slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Vogel is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Taro dives into side control.
Vogel is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.
Vogel wants to get back to his feet but Taro is dominant here and he's now got Vogel's back!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Taro's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Vogel is trying to get back to his feet but Taro has full control of the position and if anything, Vogel has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Vogel is looking to stand back up. He's having to work hard to escape but eventually he manages it.
Kurt Vogel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Vogel closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Taro's guard.
Taro preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Kurt Vogel will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Vogel shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Taro defends it nicely.
Vogel on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Taro paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Taro throws a sloppy head kick and Vogel moves out of range easily.
Vogel is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Taro.

Taro lands a big head kick that sends Vogel tumbling to the mat! Taro takes a step backwards and waves Vogel back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Vogel is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Taro fakes the leg kick and throws a superman punch. It's knocked Vogel out cold! Brutal finish!

Matsuda Taro bigged himself up after the win. The crowd seemed to love it.
