The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut lands for Vance. That snapped Spectre's head back.
Vance feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Spectres jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Vance moves out of range as Spectre strikes.
Vance throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Spectre lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Spectre gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Spectre slips a jab from Vance.
Sloppy strikes from Vance. Those never looked like landing.
Vance lunges at Spectre with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Spectre's hand.
Vance connects with a looping right hand.
Vance loads up on a big right hand but Spectre slips the punch.
Vance steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Spectre.
Spectre avoids the body shot from Vance.
Vance will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Dean Spectre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Vance darts in and clinches Spectre up against the ropes.

Spectre ties up his opponent against the ropes and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Spectre no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.
Vance stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spectre swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Vance lands a big right hand that drops Spectre! The killer instinct kicks in and Vance finishes his opponent with a series of strikes from mount. A dominating finish by Vance!

Sullivan has control of Hofman's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Hofman regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Sullivan has isolated one of Hofman's arms. Hofman looking to fight him off but Sullivan twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Gracie crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Dux - the referee stops the clock and Gracie gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Dux. Gracie manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
Gracie tries to land a front kick but Dux steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Dux tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Gracie manages to circle out of the way.
Dux lands a right hook to the body.

Dux throws a series of strikes that have Gracie backpedaling.
Dux lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Dux fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Gracie.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Gracie has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

Dux is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

The fighters circle, before Dux throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Gracie's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Dux lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Zimbardo's coach down at Palace of Pain Gym - VCL - Rio was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Zimbardo's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Zimbardo tries to clinch up against the ropes, rushing in to close the distance. Astakhov manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
