Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
13 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Kingsley Babajide! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
16 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Hop Sing Jung! The judges for this bout are Winston Alpacca, Peter Branson and David Hoff.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jung uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Babajide.
Babajide avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Babajide throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Jung manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Babajide on his heels. He'll look to pass Babajide's guard now, I'm sure. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Babajide is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Jung defends well. Jung trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Babajide manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jung keeping moving, preventing Babajide from controlling successfully. Jung has an active guard here but Babajide has managed to pass into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Babajide wants to take a breather but Jung is having none of it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jung can do anything to dispel that myth. Jung is trying to maintain the position but Babajide is very close to passing his half guard. Babajide wants to free his trapped foot but Jung is holding on for dear life with his legs. Jung wants to control but Babajide is keeping busy and won't allow it. Jung tries to get to full guard but Babajide has control of the leg. Babajide is keen to just control but Jung is a slippery customer. Babajide is looking to advance position but Jung won't allow it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Babajide prevents Jung from improving his position. Jung desperately trying to maintain half guard. Babajide is looking for a kimura but Jung is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Babajide to get the leverage. Babajide will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Jung wants to get back to full guard but Babajide has mounted him! Jung tries to hold on but Babajide pushes him away. Babajide swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Jung is now in Babajide's guard. A big mistake from Babajide there, giving up the dominant position! Jung tries to free his leg and advance position but Babajide is retaining full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Jung passes into half guard. Jung tries to pass to full mount but Babajide defends it. Jung is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. Jung is looking for a kimura here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Jung is working for a submission of some sort.

enabling Babajide to counter with a crisp jab. Babajide is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Jung doesn't succeed with the takedown and Babajide counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Jung thinking. Babajide lands a jab to the nose.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Babajide enables Jung to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Babajide manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Babajide is on top in guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Babajide connects with a body shot that sends Jung's belly button to the back. Babajide jabs Jung right on the nose. Jung blinks but takes it well. Kingsley Babajide is winning the standup battle so far. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Babajide, as that shot connected.
Jung looks for a takedown but Babajide sprawls well. Kingsley Babajide has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hop Sing Jung. Babajide connects with a body shot that sends Jung's belly button to the back. Jung takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! A telegraphed right hand from Jung misses the target. Hop Sing Jung has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Babajide rushes Jung and presses him up against the cage.
