The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ninja will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Jongyun tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ninja fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jongyun manages to avoid it. Ninja misses with a right hand and Jongyun counters with a nice body shot. Jongyun avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Ninja has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Jongyun. Ninja walks forward, straight into a front kick from Jongyun. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Jongyun staying out of range there. Jongyun lands with a kick to the ribs.
Ninja is breathing heavily. Jongyun darts in and clinches Ninja up against the cage. Jongyun lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Jongyun creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Taquses moves out of range as Concen strikes. Concen instigates a clinch. Concen misses with the head strike.
Concen goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Stalling in the clinch from Concen.
Taquses tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Concen just stands there and leans against the cage. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Taquses has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Concen lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. Taquses missing with knees to the body.
Concen throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Taqusess head. A head punch on the inside from Taquses fails to land. Taquses misses with a body punch.
Taquses pulls Concen into guard.
Concen has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Taquses is looking to cinch up a triangle. Concen throws the leg off to one side though and gets in tight to Taquses's body to avoid the submission. Taquses has instead reached around Concen's neck and now has a guillotine! Oh, this is biiiig trouble! Taquses arches his back and squeezes and forces the tap from his hapless opponent.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Oliver Taquses! Oliver Taquses is the new featherweight champion! Oliver Taquses was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A slapping leg kick lands for Phol.
Phol looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Hughes lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Phol has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Phol and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Hughes misses with a looping right. Phol connects with the punch. Phol stuffs the takedown attempt from Hughes. Hughes gets slowly back to his feet. Hughes changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Phol looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Phol defending against the ground and pound. Hughes is looking to take a break and control but Phol is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Phol managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Hughes.
Phol avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Hughes. Hughes has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. A lull in the action here as Hughes stalls from top position. Phol tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Hughes wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Phol stops Hughes from passing to mount. Phol keeps Hughes under control for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Phol taking a bit of punishment here - Hughes scoring with strikes. Phol gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. Hughes not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Hughes wants to free his trapped foot but Phol is holding on for dear life with his legs. Hughes sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Phol defending well though. Hughes connects with a couple of short punches. Hughes throwing strikes but missing. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Hughes with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Hughes connects with a couple of short punches. Phol wants to stand up but Hughes is controlling him. Phol avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Phol with a jab. King Phol is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Phol needs to keep his hands up - Hughes had a free shot at his head there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Phol clobbers Hughes with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. Hughes throws a series of punches but Phol moves out of range. Hughes fails with an attempt to clinch.
Hughes shoots in for a double leg but Phol sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Phol connects with a crisp jab. Hughes has his front leg slapped to the side - a nice low kick landing there from Phol. Hughes takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Phol ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. The fighters circle momentarily. Phol darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Phol connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Hughes connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son. Phol throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
King Phol dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Phol connects with a good right hand that stumbles Hughes. Hughes circles away out of range and recomposes himself. Hughes throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Phol counters with a good low kick that Hughes was not able to check. Hughes swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Phol.
It looks like King Phol has been cut. Hughes clinches. Phol controlling the action here for a moment.
Phol lands a body shot. Phol working some nice short punches in the clinch. Phol blocks an uppercut.
Hughes tries to work over Phol's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phol's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Phol lands a lovely overhand right. Phol moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Phol steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Hughes. Hughes tries to clinch but fails miserably and Phol makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hughes wants to clinch up but Phol keeps it at a distance. Phol takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Phol lands a big right hand that sends Hughes crashing to the mat! Phol stays standing though and waves Hughes back to his feet!

Jacobson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Barrientos uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jacobson has time to react. Barrientos walks into a stiff left hand from Jacobson. Barrientos has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. Barrientos takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Dincht on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Dincht definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. Dincht fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Laston. Dincht will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Laston avoids a lazy jab quite easily. A nice inside leg kick there by Dincht. That's going to slow Laston down. Dincht throws a lazy right hand but Laston sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Laston is loading up here, looking for a big counter of his own. Zell Dincht seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Dincht bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Dincht has taken the fight to the clinch.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Savkov thows a left - swing and a miss! Savkov shoots for a takedown but Wright saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Wright tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Savkov was well out of range. Poor timing from Wright. Savkov keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Savkov uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Wright. Wright loads up on a big right hand but Savkov slips the punch. Savkov misses with a straight left. Wright is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Savkov with a body shot. Ira Wright is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Savkov tests Wright's chin there with a solid looking shot. Nice shot by Wright. Savkov avoids the body shot from Wright.
Savkov tries to counter with a takedown but Wright is quick to defend against it. Wright cracks Savkov with a right hand to the side of the head. Savkov is really struggling to find his range with his punches. Wright's reach advantage is clearly causing him problems. Wright rushes Savkov and presses him up against the cage. Savkov drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Wright tries to get back to half guard but can't. Savkov is putting a hurting on Wright here, landing some big shots from side control. Savkov has knee on belly and moves into mount. Savkov wants to finish this one by submission but Wright is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Savkov. Savkov wants to control the pace but Wright is squirming around nicely. Savkov is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Wright has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Wright!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Hroovitnisson lands with a nice body punch. Hroovitnisson jabs Aokison right on the nose. Aokison blinks but takes it well.
It looks like Ryu Aokison has been cut. Hroovitnisson misses with a head kick.
Nice defenses there by Hroovitnisson. Aokison misses with a right hand enabling Hroovitnisson to counter with a crisp jab. Aokison cracks Hroovitnisson with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Hroovitnisson lands with a nice body punch. We've been informed that Hroovitnisson has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Aokison looks to clinch and Hroovitnisson counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Aokison throws a jab when Hroovitnisson was well out of range. Hroovitnisson moves out of range of the body kick from Aokison.
It seemed like Hroovitnisson was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Hroovitnisson drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Aokison right on the button. Aokison goes down! Hroovitnisson follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Hroovitnisson gets the win via TKO!
