Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Eric Ashton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Wilson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ashton comes to the cage accompanied by Zombie Nation. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Shane Wilson!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Colin Fotheringham and Phil Schofield.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ashton tries to land a front kick but Wilson steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Wilson closes the distance and clinches.

Ashton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Wilson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ashton jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Wilson doesn't manage to clinch there - Ashton circles away.
Ashton swings away with a leg kick that misses.

Wilson moves into the clinch.
Wilson prevents a body shot from Ashton.
Ashton tries to work over Wilson's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Ashton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wilson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wilson moves out of range of the strikes.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wilson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Ashton finds it's way round the side to connect with Wilson's head.
Wilson moves away from the strike by Ashton.
Ashton bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Wilson tries to clinch up but Ashton circles away and keeps his distance.

Wilson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Wilson is looking to control Ashton's arms but Ashton gets an underhook and turns him. Now Wilson has his back to the cage.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Wilson goes for a takedown attempt but Ashton pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Ashton chopping away at his opponent's legs.

Wilson closes the distance and clinches.
Ashton tries for a takedown. No joy.

Ashton pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ashton fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Wilson is looking to clinch but Ashton is avoiding it.
Wilson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ashton paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Wilson rushes Ashton and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
A short body shot lands from Ashton as the two fighters clinch.
Wilson wants to stall.

Ashton can't get the takedown.

Ashton breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Ashton waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Wilson.

Wilson has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Wilson there as he acknowledges the shot.

Ashton misses with a hook. Wilson ducked under it nicely.
Ashton has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Wilson doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Ashton loads up on a big right hand but Wilson slips the punch.

Wilson moves into range and clinches up with Ashton.
Ashton can't get the takedown.
Wilson is stalling here.
Wilson has Ashton pushed against the cage.
Ashton is looking for a takedown.
Ashton drops down looking for an ankle pick but Wilson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Wilson tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

Ashton throws the left hand but Wilson avoids the punch easily.
Ashton circles away from the clinch attempt.

Wilson fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Ashton, pushing him back against the cage.

Ashton lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.

Wilson tries to roll over but Ashton keeps him under control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Ashton thows a huge punch but Wilson dodges it nicely.
Ashton throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Wilson blocking the ground and pound attempt from Ashton.
Wilson is looking for a sweep. Ashton is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Ashton is taking a breather. Wilson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Ashton lands strikes from half guard.
Ashton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Wilson manages to get to full guard.
Ashton wants to control from the top but Wilson keeps moving.
Wilson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Wilson is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Eric Ashton dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Wilson tries to clinch up but Ashton circles away and keeps his distance.

and Ashton counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Wilson looks to score with a jab to the body but Ashton is just out of range.
Ashton swats away the attempt to clinch by Wilson.

Ashton breaks from the clinch.

Wilson clinches up against the cage.

Ashton is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Wilson can't fight it off and eventually Ashton manages to take the fight to the floor. Wilson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Wilson wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Ashton manages to pass to side control.
Ashton is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Wilson can do to turn this around?

Ashton seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Ashton is nestled in close to Wilson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Ashton throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Ashton wants to control but Wilson is keeping him busy.
Ashton is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.

Ashton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Wilson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Ashton is working away from the top position though.
Ashton is looking to take a break and control but Wilson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Ashton looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wilson with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Ashton is sitting in half guard. He's postured up and lands a nice elbow. Oh, Wilson is hurt! He's hurt bad - Ashton fires away with more strikes and the referee jumps in to save Wilson from any more punishment! Congratulations to Ashton! Great finish!

A relieved looking Eric Ashton thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
