3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jon Silva! The judges for this bout are Eliza Hachem, Hugh Johnson and Summer Carpenter.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice straight punches there by Strike. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Strike. A looping hook to the body misses from Silva. Strike does a little dance to reset his feet. Strike bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Silva's head backwards. Strike fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Strike moves into range and clinches up with Silva. Silva jumps into guard, dragging Strike to the mat.
Silva has his foot on Strike's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Strike works his way back into a safe position though. Silva thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage. Strike is sitting in close to Silva's body. Silva has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Strike is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Strike is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Silva.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:43 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Jon Silva! Jon Silva seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Paa changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Paa throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Gibson tries to counter with a clinch but Paa shakes him off and moves away. Paa lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
It looks like John Gibson has been cut. We've been told by Paa's head coaches at Julius Gym that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Gibson looks for the body kick but Paa saw that one coming. Gibson throws a body kick that misses and Paa connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Paa keeps the fight on the outside. Jab, jab by Paa - just one landing. Paa misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Donk. Gibson catches Paa right on the button with a cross. Nice straight punches there by Gibson. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Gibson. This has been an exciting period of action! Paa sizes up Gibson with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle. Paa feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Gibson sprawling to the canvas! Gibson rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Paa finish him?!

That has opened up John Gibson's cut even more. Gibson lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected. Gibson is still on wobbly legs! Can Paa finish him? Paa steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Gibson. Gibson seems to have recovered his senses. Gibson pushes Paa up against the cage in a clinch. Paa lands on the inside with an uppercut.
That's one minute gone in the round. Paa breaks the clinch.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Putsok throws a right hand that Nurmagabeeb ducks under and follows up with a left that Nurmagabeeb also avoids with ease. Nurmagabeeb feinted with a counter takedown. Nurmagabeeb slips a jab from Putsok. Putsok stuns Nurmagabeeb with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range. Nurmagabeeb dodges the punch combination from Putsok.
Nurmagabeeb tries to counter with a takedown but Putsok is quick to defend against it. Putsok scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Putsok swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Nurmagabeeb. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Nurmagabeeb shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Putsok pinned against the cage. Putsok gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Putsok tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Nurmagabeeb paws at him with a jab and circles away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Donk. Putsok catches Nurmagabeeb right on the button with a cross. Putsok pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Putsok shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Nurmagabeeb eats them both and turns towards Putsok to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
It looks like Khalamedov Nurmagabeeb has been cut. Nurmagabeeb displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Putsok throws out the jab. Nurmagabeeb tries to counter with a takedown but Putsok is quick to defend against it. Nilo Putsok seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The fight stays on the outside here - Putsok looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Nurmagabeeb changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Putsok tries to avoid it but Nurmagabeeb manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Putsok to the ground. Putsok escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Putsok throws a counter combo. Putsok gets caught napping as Nurmagabeeb dives in and scores a takedown. Putsok manages to retain guard. Putsok manages to wriggle out and sneak his way back up to his feet, so the fighters are now clinched up against the cage. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Nurmagabeeb is looking to take this one to the mat. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Khalamedov Nurmagabeeb. That's going to take a lot out of him. Putsok escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nurmagabeeb throws a looping overhand right but Putsok ducks down to avoid it. Nurmagabeeb keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Putsok darts in and clinches Nurmagabeeb up against the cage. Putsok prevents a takedown attempt there.

Putsok breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Putsok moves in looking to clinch but Nurmagabeeb pushes him off. Putsok works the jab nicely. Putsok throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Nurmagabeeb. Nurmagabeeb tries to counter with a takedown but Putsok is quick to defend against it. Nurmagabeeb tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Putsok defends well and Nurmagabeeb ends up having to push Putsok into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Putsok. No joy for Nurmagabeeb on that attempt. Putsok appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. Putsok misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Nurmagabeeb.

Putsok pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Nurmagabeeb tumbling to the mat - Putsok dives into Nurmagabeeb's guard. Nurmagabeeb is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Putsok tries to free his leg and advance position but Nurmagabeeb is retaining full guard. Putsok doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Putsok manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Nurmagabeeb has his foot on Putsok's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Putsok works his way back into a safe position though. Nurmagabeeb is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Putsok wants to control from the top but Nurmagabeeb keeps moving. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Nilo Putsok dominated that round. The cut man is working on Khalamedov Nurmagabeeb's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Putsok decides to stand back up. Nurmagabeeb takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. Nurmagabeeb gets caught flat footed, as Putsok shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Nurmagabeeb has an active guard here but Putsok has managed to pass into half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Nurmagabeeb is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Putsok connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Nurmagabeeb some visible discomfort.
Nurmagabeeb is positioning himself to get back to half guard. I wouldn't like to be where Nurmagabeeb is right now. Khalamedov Nurmagabeeb has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Putsok scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Nurmagabeeb to see if he's OK. Nilo Putsok is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight. Putsok trying to control the position but Nurmagabeeb is working away.
And that's the end of the fight! Nilo Putsok comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Putsok has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Homelius swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Flannerry swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. Homelius shoots in but Flannerry avoids the takedown attempt easily. Flannerry looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Flannerry misses with an uppercut. Flannerry avoids a punch combination nicely.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Flannerry! But no joy. Flannerry swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Barkley tries to clinch but Piano is having none of it. Piano lands a jab to Barkley's midsection. Both fighters circling a little - Piano finishes the exchange with a kick to the body. Piano throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Barkley stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Rick Piano is winning the standup battle so far. A thudding body kick lands there by Piano !
Piano has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ. Piano throws out a loose jab but Barkley uses good head movement to avoid it. Piano is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Barkley can do to turn this around? Piano throws out a token jab with nothing on it. It seemed like Barkley was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Barkley walks into a stiff left hand from Piano . Barkley tries to close the distance and clinch but Piano swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Piano cracks Barkley with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Barkley showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Piano .

Piano cracks Barkley with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Piano has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Barkley to stand back up!
Barkley is rocked! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Piano dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Piano fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Barkley looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Piano is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Barkley flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Barkley is out cold! Piano holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Rick Piano ! Rick Piano retains his heavyweight title! Rick Piano decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
