27 - 14 - 2, fighting out of Los Angeles, Feodor Shemelianenko! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Shemelianenko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Shemelianenko is adopting a defensive guard. Hammerfist, elbow! yells Raunio's corner. There ya go! There ya go! Raunio working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Shemelianenko's head. Shemelianenko is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Shemelianenko is persisting with the attempt to improve his position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Raunio wants to control from the top but Shemelianenko keeps moving. Shemelianenko controlling the position. Raunio distracts Shemelianenko with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.

Raunio has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Shemelianenko is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Shemelianenko being controlled here, momentarily. Shemelianenko is trying to keep Raunio in close.

Shemelianenko is looking to work some ground and pound but Raunio has wrist control. Shemelianenko postures up in Raunio's guard and throws a big left but Raunio blocks it. Raunio will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Shemelianenko trying to control the position from guard on top but Raunio is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Raunio trying to keep a closed guard but Shemelianenko is proving a slippery customer.

Raunio prevents Shemelianenko from moving into mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Raunio wants to get back to his feet but Shemelianenko is dominant here and he's now got Raunio's back! Shemelianenko is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

No damage this time. Raunio throws a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Shemelianenko wants to stand and escape but Raunio is having none of it. Raunio postures up and lands a big shot to Shemelianenko's brow. Raunio stopping the sweep attempt from Shemelianenko. Raunio trying to control but Shemelianenko is working from the bottom. Shemelianenko utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Raunio misses with a hook. Shemelianenko checks the leg kick. Jab by Raunio. Shemelianenko fails with an attempt to clinch.
Raunio looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. Shemelianenko tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Raunio swivels and escapes. Shemelianenko fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Raunio half committed to a counter leg kick. Rauli Raunio has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Feodor Shemelianenko. Raunio scores with a jab to the head.

Shemelianenko is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Raunio pulls down on the head and he's put Shemelianenko to sleep! This one is all over!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Burns throws a hook but dAnconia blocks it. A cross from Burns lands. Burns fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. dAnconia misses with a looping right. dAnconia bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut. dAnconia takes a swing at Burns's ribcage but misses. dAnconia swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. dAnconia looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.

Burns connects with a body shot that sends dAnconia's belly button to the back. That kick from dAnconia tenderised Burns's leg. Burns is trying to keep his angry face on. dAnconia looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Burns let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land. Burns's hands are dropping dangerously low here and dAnconia connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Burns scrambles back to his feet. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! dAnconia dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Burns gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows dAnconia to score an easy takedown into full guard. Burns wants to get back to his feet but dAnconia passes into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. dAnconia wants to lay and pray for a moment but Burns keeps working. dAnconia is thwarting Burns's attempts to control the position. Burns has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but dAnconia is on him like a limpet, forcing Burns back against the cage. Burns misses with a hook from the clinch. dAnconia breaks from the clinch.
Burns uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Burns lands a jab to dAnconia's midsection. Burns misses with a leg kick and dAnconia counters with a nice double leg into guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. dAnconia stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity. dAnconia pushing out the jab but it's not landing. dAnconia slips under a jab from Burns. dAnconia lands a head kick. Burns smiles back at him and beckons him forward. dAnconia misses the shot to the body. Burns swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Burns sprawls well. dAnconia thows a left - swing and a miss! A telegraphed right hand from dAnconia misses the target. Burns scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. dAnconia doesn't seem bothered though. Francisco dAnconia seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

And dAnconia counters with a quick kick to the body but Burns blocks it. Burns is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down dAnconia rather than just go for the knockout. A lazy left from dAnconia finds it's target. dAnconia swings and misses with a hook to the body.
A left lands for Burns. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Burns throws a jab but it's blocked by dAnconia. dAnconia looks to land a right hand but Burns moved out of range. Burns throws an overhand right that lands on dAnconia's shoulder, as dAnconia tries to avoid the shot. dAnconia just misses with a punch to the body.
Burns lands a lovely overhand right. dAnconia walks forward, straight into a front kick from Burns. A big left from Burns misses. dAnconia uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Burns.

Nice cross by dAnconia. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Francisco dAnconia will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

and dAnconia counters with a stiff right hand. dAnconia lands an overhand right. Burns displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from dAnconia. Burns is clearly trying to counter these attacks from dAnconia with a body shot. Burns lunges at dAnconia with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by dAnconia's hand. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. dAnconia connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Burns's hands.

dAnconia swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. dAnconia throws a low kick but it's checked well by Burns. Burns throws a body kick that misses. Burns lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Connor Mac Burns decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way. Francisco dAnconia was interviewed post fight and said 'Who is John Galt?'.

King manages to work his way to half guard, despite Pulu's best efforts. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Pulu stalling away here and it's allowed King to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard. Pulu preventing the sweep.

Pulu tries to free his leg and advance position but King is retaining full guard. Pulu keeps trying to improve his position. King scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Pulu doesn't seem bothered though. King catches Pulu with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong! King attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Pulu swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. King misses with a wild combination.

He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. A nice leg kick lands there from Pulu. King is looking to score with low kicks. Pulu now looks to counter with a shot at the body. Pulu throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

King is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. A head kick misses from Pulu. Pulu gets the takedown into side control. Pulu drops down looking to force a counter takedown but King defends it well. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pulu throws an overhand right that lands on King's shoulder, as King tries to avoid the shot. Pulu closes this distance looking for a takedown but King circles away.

Pulu throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Pulu is looking to chop away at King's legs. A looping hook to the body misses from Pulu. King does a little dance to reset his feet. A left lands for King. King throws a good cross that connects.
King dips down and scores with a jab to the body. King lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Pulu moves out of range as King throws a body kick.
King keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. King checks a low kick from Pulu. Pulu throws a low kick but King avoids it. Pulu throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Pulu fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Pulu throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Pulu throws a leg kick and King counters with a nice leg kick.

It looks like Maki Pulu has been cut. Nice straight punches there by Pulu. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Pulu. Pulu stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from King. King scores with a hook. Pulu misses with a low kick.

King fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Pulu on the side of the head. King fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Pulu has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. King misses with an attempted mid kick.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Pulu, as that shot connected.

Cosades wants to control from the top but Fu Tu keeps moving. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Cosades working his ground and pound in the gym. So far it seems to be working well. Cosades stands and throws Fu Tu's legs to the side, diving into side control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Cosades is putting a hurting on Fu Tu here, landing some big shots from side control. Cosades wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fu Tu keeps working. Fu Tu manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Cosades wants to free his trapped foot but Fu Tu is holding on for dear life with his legs. Fu Tu tries to roll over but Cosades keeps him under control.

Fu Tu is trying to get back to half guard. Fu Tu is not content to let Cosades control the position. Cosades has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Fu Tu is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Cosades off and has taken his back! Fu Tu is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Cosades has hold of the other arm. Fu Tu slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Fu Tu stands up. Cosades keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Fu Tu. Cosades scores with a decent looking hook. Cosades moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Fu Tu uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Fu Tu slips a jab from Cosades. Cosades shoots and misses and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick. Cosades ducks under a wild hook from Fu Tu. Cosades with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Fu Tu to score with a decent uppercut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Fu Tu throws a hook but Cosades blocks it. Fu Tu buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

Fu Tu misses with a low kick. Cosades avoids the body shot from Fu Tu.
Nice uppercut there from Fu Tu. Cosades lands a jab to the nose. Fu Tu misses with a looping right. Cosades moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. Fu Tu throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Cosades lets loose with a powerful body kick. Fu Tu will feel that in the morning. Cosades throws a leg kick but Fu Tu sees it coming and checks it nicely. Cosades needs to keep his hands up - Fu Tu had a free shot at his head there. This has been an exciting period of action! That must be slowing him down. Cosades throws a low kick but Fu Tu avoids it. A slapping leg kick lands for Fu Tu.

Fu Tu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger. An inside leg kick lands from Cosades. Cosades feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Fu Tu's calf. Cosades scores with a jab. Fu Tu acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Fu Tu cracks Cosades with an open hand slap. Cosades with a nice cross. Fu Tu throws a hook but Cosades avoids it easily. That kick from Fu Tu tenderised Cosades's leg. Cosades is trying to keep his angry face on.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shi Fu Tu. Well Fu Tu has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Prime feints and as Mason raises his hands in defense, Prime changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Prime throwing strikes from guard but Mason blocks nicely. Prime landing with the ground and pound. Prime trying to control but Mason is working from the bottom. Prime has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Mason is pulling down on Prime's head to control his posture. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Prime working his ground and pound in the gym. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Prime lands a couple of elbows. Mason pulls Prime in close to prevent any damage. Mason has momentary wrist control but Prime slips an elbow through the middle.

Optimus Prime dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Grigoryan pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Grigoryan scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Grigoryan thuds his right hand into Bixby's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Grigoryan jabs Bixby right on the nose. Bixby blinks but takes it well.
