Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Clive Grissom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Dakota Otoua! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Grissom lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Otoua circles away quickly and effectively. Grissom walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. We've been told by Grissom's head coaches at LOD: House of Gladiators that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Grissom scores with a punch to the head. Grissom throws the left hand but Otoua avoids the punch easily. Grissom cracks Otoua with a big right hand and Otoua goes down!
It looks like Dakota Otoua has been cut. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Grissom stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Otoua swivels though and keeps the full guard. Grissom trying to control the position from guard on top but Otoua is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Otoua wants to stand up but Grissom is controlling him. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Grissom throwing strikes but missing. Otoua working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Grissom. Grissom has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Grissom accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's one minute gone in the round. Grissom trying to control but Otoua is working from the bottom. Grissom is really struggling to control Otoua but he's trying to hold on to the position. Grissom is looking to work some ground and pound but Otoua has wrist control. Grissom trying to control but Otoua is working from the bottom. Otoua is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Otoua has a closed guard, preventing Grissom from standing up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Grissom swats away the attempt to clinch by Otoua. Otoua scores with a jab. Otoua scores with a three punch combo!
Grissom swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Grissom misses the jab.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Grissom slips a straight right by Otoua. Otoua thows a left - swing and a miss! Otoua moves into range and connects with a jab. Otoua walks into a jab. Otoua walks into a stiff left hand from Grissom. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Otoua ducks under a wild hook from Grissom. Otoua fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Grissom checks it well. Otoua fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Grissom manages to avoid it. Otoua slips under a jab from Grissom. Grissom has a takedown stuffed. Grissom misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Otoua lands with a shot to the body. Grissom keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Clive Grissom seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Grissom throws a lazy right hand but Otoua sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Grissom rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Otoua moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Grissom checks a leg kick. Grissom throws the left hand but Otoua avoids the punch easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A jab from Grissom misses. Grissom swats away the attempt to clinch by Otoua. Dakota Otoua is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. A jab from Grissom misses. Grissom swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Otoua. That kick from Otoua tenderised Grissom's leg. Grissom is trying to keep his angry face on. Grissom stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush. A slow jab from Grissom misses its intended target. Nice defenses there by Otoua. Grissom tries to work over Otoua's front leg with a kick but Otoua checks it. Grissom waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Otoua. Otoua has Grissom up against the cage in a clinch.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Otoua throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Grissoms head. Otoua misses with the head strike.
Grissom lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Otoua backwards. Grissom has a couple of punches blocked by Otoua.

Grissom throws a wild body kick that Otoua sees coming a mile off. Otoua scores with a sloppy right hand. Grissom should have avoided that one. Otoua missing with a left hand there. Grissom was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Grissom misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Grissom misses with a hook. Otoua wants to counter the offense by Grissom and move into the clinch position. Otoua throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Grissom steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Otoua. Otoua gets a clinch. Otoua swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Grissom is looking to break free of the clinch but Otoua has double underhooks. A frustrated look appears on Grissom's face as he tries to break the clinch. Otoua tries to work over Grissom's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Otoua lands with a short head shot on the inside. Otoua scores with a shot to the side of Grissom's head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Grissom breaks from the clinch.
Grissom is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all. Otoua swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Grissom lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

That's one minute gone in the round. Grissom misses with a looping right. Grissom drops his hands momentarily and Otoua takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head. Nice sprawl there from Otoua as Grissom shoots in. Otoua lands a jab to the head.

Otoua displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Grissom throws out the jab. Otoua takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Grissom misses with a lunging right hand
and Otoua holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Grissom blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Grissom pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Grissom throws a sloppy head kick and Otoua moves out of range easily. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Grissom throws a right and a left that Otoua avoids nicely. The fighters circling - Otoua throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Grissom scores with a crisp jab that stopped Otoua in his tracks. Otoua throws a body punch but Grissom moves out of range.

and Grissom counters with a lovely straight right hand! Otoua fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Grissom appears to be looking for a big counter. A lazy left from Grissom finds it's target. Grissom dodges the punch combination from Otoua.
Grissom throws a series of punches but Otoua moves out of range. Grissom sets himself, and Otoua steps forward looking for the clinch! Grissom avoids it this time. Good standup being displayed there by Otoua as he connects with a hook. Grissom lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Otoua backs up against the cage.
The fighters circling - Grissom throws out the jab but it was never going to land. We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Otoua in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. Otoua gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Otoua is rocked! Otoua scores with a hook. Otoua drops his hands for a split second and Grissom immediately capitalizes on the opportunity by smashing a powerful hook into Otoua face, sending his mouthguard sailing through the air, much to the delight of the crowd. Grissom follows up with a right hand that knocks Otoua into next week. He's out cold and this fight is over!

Cleinias has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Reese has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage. Cleinias breaks the clinch.
Reese tries to close the distance and clinch up but Cleinias swats him away and circles back towards the center. Cleinias wants to counter with a clinch but Reese pushes him away. Williams walks straight into a right hand from Rage - that's dropped him! Rage jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Williams from any more punishment! Williams complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Khaibulaev moves in looking to clinch but Happy pushes him off. Happy fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Khaibulaev has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Happy lunges at Khaibulaev with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Khaibulaev's hand. Khaibulaev tries to close the distance and clinch up but Happy swats him away and circles back towards the center. Khaibulaev shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Happy wants to get back to his feet. Khaibulaev is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Weight scores with a hook to the body. Epirus takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Weight smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Weight connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt. Epirus takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Weight walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. A telegraphed right hand from Weight misses the target. Epirus is looking to counter with a body kick. Epirus connects with a leg kick. Weight looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Some wild striking there from Weight.
Epirus keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Weight. Epirus closes the distance but Weight moves to the side letting Weight counter with a right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Weight darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Weight misses with a straight right. Epirus is looking for a counter combo. Weight throws a jab but it's blocked by Epirus. Welter Weight seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Weight scores with a nice head shot.
That's one minute gone in the round. Epirus ducks under a wild hook from Weight. Weight ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Epirus moves away. It looked like Epirus was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. A big left from Weight misses. A nice combination there by Weight.
Weight darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Epirus takes one to the chin there. Epirus on the wrong end of a nice hook. Weight lands a lovely overhand right. Weight throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd. Weight throws a hook but Epirus blocks it. Epirus seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Weight lands with a shot to the body. Weight has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight. Sloppy strikes from Weight. Those never looked like landing. Weight waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Epirus. No joy there for Weight, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Weight throws a series of punches but Epirus avoids them all with ease. Epirus walks into a straight right hand from Weight. Epirus slips a jab from Weight. A jab lands there for Weight. Weight looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Donk. Weight catches Epirus right on the button with a cross. Weight missing with a left hand there. Epirus was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Epirus half committed to a counter leg kick. Epirus bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Epirus pushes Weight up against the cage in a clinch. Weight wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Epirus has him pressed against the cage. A nice left hand lands by Epirus.
Epirus tries to throw a body punch but Weight avoids it by throwing Epirus back against the cage. Weight tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage. Weight lands a nice uppercut. A quick uppercut on the inside from Weight.

Epirus throws a punch but it's blocked by Weight. Weight lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Epirus backwards. Epirus pushes Weight back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head. Weight breaks from the clinch.
Weight scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Nice jab there from Weight. A shot to the liver by Weight. Beautiful body shot. Weight misses with a body shot.
Epirus throws a low kick but Weight moves out of range easily. Epirus throws a leg kick and Weight cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Epirus tries to clinch up but Weight circles away and keeps his distance.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Weight throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Epirus on the side of the head. Epirus walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head. Weight with a hook. Weight fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Epirus manages to avoid it. Weight is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Epirus had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Weight connects with the punch. Epirus takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A cross from Weight lands. A punch combination from Weight misses. As Weight looks to move away, Epirus throws a big counter combo but Weight just gets out of the way. Weight throws out a loose jab but Epirus uses good head movement to avoid it. Epirus looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that. Weight dips down and scores with a jab to the body. The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end. Weight scores with a body shot.
Weight fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Weight checks a leg kick. Epirus takes a shot right to the bread basket. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Welter Weight dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Epirus takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Weight lands a jab. Epirus tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Weight paws at him with a jab and circles away. Epirus tries to clinch but Weight is having none of it. Welter Weight seems to be getting the better of the standup. Weight thuds a left hand into Epirus's body. Weight has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Weight throws out a loose jab but Epirus uses good head movement to avoid it. Weight's corner calls for a 1-2. Weight obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Weight smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button. Weight lands a jab to the head.
Epirus is rocked! Weight cracks Epirus with a hook to the temple - Epirus is on wobbly legs here! Weight swarms him with hook after hook, landing with each one! Epirus falls to the canvas face first and the referee dives in to stop the fight! Weight wins by TKO!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Beater misses with a right hand and Sadeq counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Sadeq sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Beater defending well though. Sadeq wants to lay and pray for a moment but Beater keeps working. Sadeq throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Beater knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sadeq on the ground. Sadeq slips a nice elbow through Beater's hands, connecting with Beater's forehead. Beater is looking to escape. Sadeq thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Beater's head. Beater taking some punishment here, with Sadeq in his half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Sadeq not doing much here.

I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Sadeq connects with a nice short shot to Beater's temple. Beater definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Sadeq lands a nice short elbow. Sadeq working over Beater with some ground and pound. Beater looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Sadeq scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Sadeq is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Beater is rocked! Sadeq lands a big elbow from half guard. That looks like it's hurt Beater quite badly. Beater pulls Sadeq in close trying to recover. Sadeq postures up and lands two really hard shots that put Beater on queer street! The ref takes a look and decides to call an end to the fight! Possibly an early stoppage but Beater doesn't seem to be complaining too much.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Adel Sadeq! Adel Sadeq is the new welterweight champion! A very excited looking Adel Sadeq made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
