Alves is working to tighten his grip on Szczawinski's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Szczawinski has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Alves is really squeezing tight and eventually Szczawinski passes out! Alves breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!

Jones circles away before darting back in with a big straight right hand. It connects beautifully and sends Suleyman tumbling to the canvas! He's out cold! Jones wins by KO!

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joy Rones!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Matti Vanhoillinen and Tarja Halkonen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lopez looks to score with a jab to the body but Rones is just out of range.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Lopez lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Rones looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Lopez shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Rones but Rones pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Rones throws a shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lopez throws a combination that misses
and Rones cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Rones loads up on a big right hand but Lopez slips the punch.
Lopez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rones was well out of range. Poor timing from Lopez.

It looks like Joy Rones has been cut.
Lopez shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rones counters with a left to the body.
Lopez misses with a hook. Rones ducked under it nicely.
Lopez takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Rones fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Lopez tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Rones was well out of range. Poor timing from Lopez.
Rones swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made.

Rones cracks Lopez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Lopez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Rones finish him?

Lopez is rocked!

It looks like Nate Lopez has been cut.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Rones throws a series of punches but Lopez moves out of range.
Oh Lopez is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Lopez throws an off balance right hand

and Rones counters with a crisp right hand that drops Lopez! Rones lets Lopez back up to his feet, looking for a finish!
Lopez switches off momentarily and Rones cracks him with a monster right hand! Lopez topples backwards and makes a semi conscious attempt to cover up, as Rones dives in to land one more shot, before the referee has time to call the fight. What a finish by Rones!
