The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Orndorf uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Aron has time to react.
Orndorf throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Aron defending well as Orndorf loads up on a big left hand.
A counter left hand to the body from Aron misses its target.

Aron closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Orndorf to the mat! Orndorf manages to get full guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Orndorf bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Aron's guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Let's hope that Orndorf has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Aron is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Orndorf must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Orndorf is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Orndorf.
Aron looking to hit a scissor sweep but Orndorf is one step ahead there.

Aron moves forwards but Orndorf connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Daniel Orndorf seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Aron will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Orndorf has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
Aron moves out of range as Orndorf strikes.
