Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ren Naga-Wing (ranked 4628 p4p, 362 weight class) and Kron Karelin (ranked 19130 p4p, 473 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karelin takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness. Naga-Wing misses with a low kick as Karelin jumps back. Karelin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Naga-Wing. A swing and a miss from Naga-Wing. Karelin throws a body punch but Naga-Wing moves out of range. Karelin takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Karelin dives in and scores a takedown into Naga-Wing's guard. Karelin throwing strikes from guard but Naga-Wing blocks nicely. Naga-Wing is pulling down on Karelin's head. It's preventing any offense from Karelin, at least for the moment. Karelin throws a strike but Naga-Wing rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Naga-Wing landing with the ground and pound. Karelin working a defensive guard but Naga-Wing manages to pass into side control anyway.

Karelin is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard. Karelin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Naga-Wing is working away from the top position though. Naga-Wing tries to pass the half guard into mount. Karelin knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Naga-Wing seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Karelin does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. Karelin is trying to get back to full guard. Karelin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Naga-Wing is working away from the top position though. Naga-Wing sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Karelin defending well though. Karelin is trying to maintain the position but Naga-Wing is very close to passing his half guard. Karelin blocking the ground and pound attempt from Naga-Wing. Karelin wants to get back to full guard. Karelin trying to control but Naga-Wing postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Karelin takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. Karelin cracks a nice hook into Naga-Wing's ribs. Naga-Wing misses with a low kick as Karelin jumps back. Karelin loads up on a big right hand but Naga-Wing slips the punch. Karelin avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Naga-Wing connects with a leg kick. Karelin looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Naga-Wing looks to score with a jab to the body but Karelin is just out of range. Ren Naga-Wing seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Karelin cracks Naga-Wing with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Naga-Wing slips a straight right by Karelin. Karelin throws a body punch but Naga-Wing moves out of range. Naga-Wing connects with a solid leg kick. Karelin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Naga-Wing. Naga-Wing shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Karelin napping and manages to drive through into side control! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Karelin tries to buck Naga-Wing off but Naga-Wing is having none of it. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Karelin wants to control but Naga-Wing postures up. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Naga-Wing is looking to take a break and control but Karelin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Karelin is looking for a sweep. Karelin is not content to let Naga-Wing control the position. Naga-Wing throws a strike aimed at the side of Karelin's head but Karelin avoids it well. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ren Naga-Wing dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Naga-Wing tries to counter with a takedown but Karelin is quick to defend against it. Naga-Wing throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body. Karelin moves into range and connects with a jab. Naga-Wing with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.

Naga-Wing slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Naga-Wing is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Karelin can do to turn this around? Karelin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Karelin looking for a guillotine here but Naga-Wing defends easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Karelin is on top in guard.
Karelin is looking to pass into half guard but Naga-Wing pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Naga-Wing is in guard. Naga-Wing wants to control from the top but Karelin keeps moving. Naga-Wing won't allow Karelin to sweep him here. Naga-Wing trying to control but Karelin is working from the bottom. Karelin pulls Naga-Wing in close to prevent any damage.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Naga-Wing slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Karelin regains half guard. Naga-Wing seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime. Karelin is looking to improve his position.

That was a close second round but I would say that Ren Naga-Wing will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Ren Naga-Wing's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!
Karelin on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those. Karelin takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Karelin closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Naga-Wing's guard. Naga-Wing working a defensive guard here.

Karelin might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Naga-Wing haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time. Naga-Wing utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Naga-Wing controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Naga-Wing trying to control but Karelin is working from the bottom.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Naga-Wing takes a swing at Karelin's ribcage but misses. Karelin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Naga-Wing to score with a decent uppercut. Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Naga-Wing. A momentary lapse in concentration from Karelin enables Naga-Wing to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Karelin manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Naga-Wing got a little sloppy there for a moment and Karelin has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Naga-Wing has managed to get both his arms back between Karelin's legs - danger averted. Naga-Wing trying to control but Karelin is working from the bottom.

Naga-Wing creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Karelin sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Naga-Wing cracks Karelin with an elbow. That is naaassty. Karelin is trying to control Naga-Wing's posture but Naga-Wing avoids it. Karelin tries to improve position but can't. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Karelin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Kron Karelin has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Karelin can't do much from the bottom here.

Tapaus misses the shot to the body. Keijo Tapaus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Some wild striking there from Frost.

I was talking to Tapaus's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Tapaus lands on the inside with an uppercut. And that's the end of the fight! Keijo Tapaus showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Tapaus, winning every round. Will the judges agree? That's two minutes gone in the round. Turner goes for a spinning back kick but it misses. Shaman moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross. Turner fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Shaman looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Turner displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Shaman. Turner is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Shaman with a body shot. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Blind Shaman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Turner takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily. A punch lands to the side of Shaman 's head but he takes it in his stride. Turner's leg has a nasty welt from taking a succession of leg kicks. That must be slowing him down. Shaman throws out a token jab with nothing on it. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Shaman to score with a decent uppercut. Turner throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. A solid body kick from Turner. Shaman scores with a head kick. Turner tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time. Good leg kick by Shaman there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
