Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 9 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nazz Lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alex Parker! The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and Don Winkell.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lee checks a leg kick. Lee connects with a leg kick. Parker looked like he was expecting something else and didn't defend it. Parker stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Lee. Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Parker lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Lee has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Lee and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Parker does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy. Parker gets off balance looking for a body kick and Lee counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Lee ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Parker moves away. And an attempted straight right on the counter from Parker! But no joy. Parker gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Lee to score an easy takedown into full guard. Parker manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Lee manages to get himself to full guard.
Parker told us pre-fight that he has been working on his escapes in training. Let's see if he can call on some of his new skills to get back to his feet. Lee wants to sweep but no luck. Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Parker's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Lee wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving. Parker is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lee looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Lee is trying to get back to full guard. Parker decides to stand and escape the position. Lee throws a lazy head kick and Parker counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lee's knee momentarily. Lee thuds a left hand into Parker's body. Parker dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Lee. That did some damage! A clash of legs there as Lee blocks the low kick. Alex Parker seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Parker throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Lee throws a leg kick that misses. Parker avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Parker misses with a right hand and Lee counters with a lovely shot to the body. Lee throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Parker uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Parker tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Lee explodes with a nice body kick and back out of range. Nice work. Parker lands a jab to the head.
Lee has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Touch Of Death Combat Academy in the buildup to the fight. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Lee lands with a shot to the body. Parker throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Lee sees it coming and avoids it easily. Lee throws a quick counter head kick but Parker was just out of range. Lee misses with an uppercut. Parker saw that one coming. A telegraphed right hand from Parker misses the target. Lee feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Parker trying to control the position here. Parker is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Parker has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Lee is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Lee tries to free his leg and advance position but Parker is retaining full guard. Lee wants to control from the top but Parker keeps moving. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Lee stopping the sweep attempt from Parker. Parker is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Lee clinches up against the cage. Parker lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Parker tries to throw a body punch but Lee avoids it by throwing Parker back against the cage. Stalling in the clinch from Parker.

and Lee takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pekkarinen throws a body shot but no joy. Pekkarinen swings for the body but Timmermans moves out of range.
Timmermans looks to throw the jab but Pekkarinen is out of range. A jab from Pekkarinen misses. The fighters circle momentarily. Timmermans darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Pekkarinen moves into the clinch. Pekkarinen lands with a short head shot on the inside. Timmermans swings wildly with an uppercut but Pekkarinen uses good head movement to avoid it. Pekkarinen makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Pekkarinen lands a hook that snaps the head of Timmermans backwards. Pekkarinen tries to work over Timmermans's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target. Timmermans has had enough of the clinch but Pekkarinen keeps him there for the moment. Pekkarinen breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pekkarinen has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. A head kick from Pekkarinen lands but Timmermans takes it in his stride. Pekkarinen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Timmermans. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Pekkarinen throws a shot from downtown. Timmermans moves away and avoids it. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Timmermans's half guard. Pekkarinen wants to lay and pray for a moment but Timmermans keeps working. Pekkarinen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Timmermans is just riding it out for now. Pekkarinen eventually gives up the hold. Pekkarinen thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.

He's hooked one of Pekkarinen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Pekkarinen's back! So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Nice sprawl there from Timmermans as Pekkarinen shoots in. Casper Timmermans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Lauri Pekkarinen. We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Sanada in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off.
