The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kakuto throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Harper. Harper rushes Kakuto and presses him up against the cage. Kakuto wants to take the fight to the mat but Harper manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Kakuto has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. Kakuto blocking some punches.
Kakuto has picked Harper up - he's going for a ride! Kakuto dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Harper is trying to control but Kakuto passes into side control!
Kakuto controls the position. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kakuto passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Harper! Kakuto looking to control and managing it successfully. Harper wants to control but Kakuto is having none of it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Kakuto controlling from mount. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kakuto working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Kakuto sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Kakuto seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Harper for as long as he can get away with. Harper is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Kakuto. The fighters circle momentarily. Harper darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Kakuto moves away from the strike by Harper. Harper ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. It looks like Yhorm Giant has been cut. Giant will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.

It looks like Gabriel Arones has been cut. Giant thows a left - swing and a miss! Giant finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.

Giant closes the distance and pushes Arones back into the cage. Giant lands a nice elbow. Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Giant. Arones has clasped his hands together around Giant's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Giant felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Arones tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it. Giant tries to bench press Arones off him but Arones keeps the position. Arones trying to control the action but Giant is working from the bottom. Arones working away.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arones is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Giant is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Giant regains half guard. Arones performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Giant tries to get to full guard but Arones has control of the leg. Arones wants to free his trapped foot but Giant is holding on for dear life with his legs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Arones passes to full mount! Arones tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Giant regains half guard. Arones seems to be looking for submissions.
Giant wants to get back to full guard. Arones is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Arones wants to finish this one by submission but Giant is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Arones.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Arones pushing the pace here, looking to move to his opponents back and work for a finish.
Arones has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage. Arones moves to take his opponent's back. Giant is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Arones gets his way!
Arones has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Giant has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Arones is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Arones gets his hands free as Giant looks to control. What can Giant do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
You can see the frustration on Giant's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Arones is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Giant defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Arones's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

Giant has been the more effective fighter overall so far. Giant cracks Arones with a big right hand and Arones goes down!
Gabriel Arones's cut is getting worse. This has been an exciting period of action! Giant slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Giant decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Arones, up you get! Arones tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Giant misses with a head kick.
Giant throws a leg kick but Arones checks it. Arones shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard. Arones is trying to control. Giant wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nice defenses there by Machado. Machado shoots for a double leg takedown but Galanos sprawls well. He's pushed Machado's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. A swing and a miss from Galanos. Galanos moves into range and lands a nice leg kick. Machado misses with a head kick.
Galanos attempts a low kick but it misses it's target. Galanos lands a big head kick that sends Machado tumbling to the mat! Galanos takes a step backwards and waves Machado back to his feet - he wants the finish!
Machado is rocked! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Galanos cracks Machado with a left hook right on the temple and Machado goes down! He's out! Referee! Stop the fight! Galanos lands a few more punches before the dopey ref steps in - hopefully Machado is OK!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! OConnell tries to clinch but Castillo is having none of it. OConnell needs to keep his hands up - Castillo had a free shot at his head there. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Castillo.

It looks like Paul OConnell has been cut. Castillo scores with a hook to the body. OConnell takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. Castillo throws a body shot but no joy. Despite the aggression on OConnell's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter. Castillo lands with an uppercut that bounces OConnell off the cage and back into range. Castillo swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
OConnell thinks about the counter body kick. Castillo misses with a body kick. OConnell closes the distance and clinches. Castillo is trying to force a seperation but OConnell has the dominant position. OConnell cracks Castillo with a nice body shot. The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch. Castillo tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! OConnell prevents a body shot from Castillo. Castillo lands a hook to the side of the head. Castillo tries to circle away but OConnell has him pinned against the cage. Castillo is trying to break free.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lazy left from Castillo finds it's target. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Castillo throws a nice inside leg kick. Castillo's jab looks to have found its range, popping OConnell under the eye. OConnell fails to land with a series of punches.
Castillo cracks OConnell with a good jab. Good exchange - Castillo coming out on top. Castillo throws a looping overhand right but OConnell ducks down to avoid it. Castillo buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Castillo fakes a jab and scores with a low kick. Castillo is looking to slow OConnell down with leg kicks. OConnell ducks under a wild hook from Castillo. No joy there for OConnell, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Castillo lands a left and a right that send OConnell crashing to the mat, dazed. Castillo thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!
OConnell is rocked! Castillo drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of OConnell's head, knocking him out cold! Castillo is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Braz trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Braz is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! McCullen is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! McCullen has escaped and now he's on top! McCullen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
That's one minute gone in the round. McCullen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Braz is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and McCullen defends well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. McCullen engaging in some classic timewasting tactics. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Braz working for submissions but it's allowed McCullen to get to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McCullen wants to pass the guard but Braz is defending well. Braz looking for submissions from an awkward position here. McCullen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. McCullen looking to pass the half guard. Not this time. McCullen perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. McCullen trying to mount his opponent but Braz defends it. The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace. McCullen not doing much here.
The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Braz fails miserably with a takedown attempt. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A momentary lapse in concentration from McCullen enables Braz to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. McCullen manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. McCullen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. McCullen bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Braz's guard.
Braz throws his legs up looking for a submission but McCullen uses it to pass to side control.

McCullen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Braz might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. McCullen moves nicely into side control. Braz tries to improve position but can't. Braz is trying to work for a sweep but McCullen has mounted him! McCullen content just to control the position here. Let's hope that McCullen has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Braz sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though. Braz is staying active underneath McCullen, who seems content to just control the action from this position. McCullen content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Horrible takedown attempt by Braz or perhaps it was just good defense by McCullen, which made it look bad. Braz shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has McCullen pinned against the cage. McCullen gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Braz shoots in for a takedown but McCullen shows good takedown defense. A countering left hand to the body from McCullen misses. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Shoei Braz. That's going to take a lot out of him. Braz fails with the takedown and McCullen counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
It looks like Shoei Braz has been cut. McCullen lands with a shot to the body. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Braz with a poor takedown and McCullen counters with a two punch combo. Braz looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Braz shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with McCullen but McCullen pushes him off and we're back to square one. A slapping leg kick lands for McCullen.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

McCullen was covering up waiting for the punch and Braz finishes the takedown easily into guard. McCullen manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Braz manages to get himself to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. McCullen looking to pass the guard. McCullen slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Shoei Braz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

And that's the end of the fight! Sam McCullen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well McCullen has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today.
