The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Day closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Vanna is looking to regain half guard here but Day keeps moving and retains side control. Day is working Vanna over with some ground and pound from side control. Vanna is positioning himself to get back to half guard. The ground and pound from Day seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent. Day works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. Day misses with the ground and pound. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Punchy manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Visigoth on his heels. He'll look to pass Visigoth's guard now, I'm sure. Punchy connects with a couple of short punches. Punchy won't allow Visigoth to sweep him here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Visigoth will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Punchy scoring with some ground and pound. Punchy must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Visigoth throws his legs up looking for a submission but Punchy uses it to pass to side control.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Minerva holds on and takes a little breather. Tambua postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Minerva is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Tambua, into his guard. Tambua doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

It looks like Scott Minerva has been cut. Tambua moves forwards but Minerva connects with a nice, crisp jab. Tambua drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
