Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 2, fighting out of New York, Johannes Brahms! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
15 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Nando Vasquez! The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Frank Antenori.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Brahms changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Vasquez tries to avoid it but Brahms manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Vasquez to the ground. Vasquez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Vasquez throws a hook but Brahms avoids it easily. Vasquez cracks Brahms with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. Brahms takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Vasquez misses with a jab to the body
and Brahms counters with a leg kick. Vasquez scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brahms. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vasquez jabbing away but nothing is landing. Brahms throws a looping overhand right but Vasquez ducks down to avoid it. Nando Vasquez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Brahms shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Vasquez but Vasquez pushes him off and we're back to square one. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Johannes Brahms. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasquez fakes a jab and then connects with a hook. Brahms moves away from the strike by Vasquez. Vasquez moves into range and lands a nice body kick.
Vasquez missing with a left hand there. Brahms was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Vasquez scores with a nice strike. Brahms fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Brahms drives through with a takedown into Vasquez's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position. Vasquez manages to escape and get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nando Vasquez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Brahms looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Vasquez! Vasquez bucks up and tries to throw Brahms off but instead Brahms has got his back! Vasquez trying to control but not successfully. Brahms lands a shot to the head. Brahms lands punches and elbows.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Brahms misses with an elbow to the head. Brahms looking for the choke but no joy. Brahms working for the choke. Vasquez is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Brahms gets his way!
Brahms has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Brahms looking for the RNC. Brahms has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Vasquez's body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Brahms missing with punches from the back. Brahms punishes Vasquez with strikes from the back mount. Brahms is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Vasquez defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Vasquez fending off the submission attempt from Brahms. Brahms is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Vasquez is defending well though. Brahms let's go of the attempt for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Nando Vasquez will probably get the nod. That's time! Brahms's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Brahms cracks him with a counter punch right on the button. Vasquez misses with a leg kick letting Brahms counter with a right hand. Brahms has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Vasquez finds it's way round the side to connect with Brahms's head. Vasquez lands a leg kick that knocks Brahms off balance momentarily. Vasquez has taken the fight to the clinch.
Vasquez blocks a couple of punches on the inside.
Vasquez works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Vasquez blocks a body shot from Brahms. Vasquez breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brahms stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Vasquez. Vasquez swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Brahms counters with a nice uppercut.
Vasquez is rocked! The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Brahms gets tackled into the cage by Vasquez. Vasquez maintains the clinch. Vasquez is still on wobbly legs! Can Brahms finish him?

Brahms takes one on the button. Brahms tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him. Vasquez seems to have recovered his senses. Brahms drops Vasquez with a straight left! Oh this is bad for Vasquez! Brahms dives in and starts dropping bombs - the referee has no choice but to step in and save him!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Johannes Brahms! Johannes Brahms seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Boris Bulletzowich (ranked 1268 p4p, 159 weight class) and Anti Half Assed (ranked 748 p4p, 98 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Bulletzowich might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to THUNDERCAT - THEM CHANGES. Boris Bulletzowich had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 172.1lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Half Assed misses with a wild body shot. Half Assed connects with a body shot. Bulletzowich throws a wild combination but nothing lands. A swing and a miss from Bulletzowich. Bulletzowich dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Half Assed throws a body shot but no joy. Bulletzowich tries to keep at a distance but Half Assed has taken the fight into the clinch. Half Assed throws a punch but it's blocked by Bulletzowich. Half Assed breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Bulletzowich connects with a nice looking jab.
Half Assed avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Half Assed shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Bulletzowich but Bulletzowich pushes him off and we're back to square one. Bulletzowich changes levels looking for a counter takedown but doesn't commit. Bulletzowich throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Half Assed stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Half Assed misses with an uppercut. Bulletzowich saw that one coming. Half Assed throws a hook but Bulletzowich avoids it easily. Half Assed thows a left - swing and a miss!

Bulletzowich throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Half Assed counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Bulletzowich throws a combination that misses letting Half Assed counter with a right hand. Bulletzowich throws a lazy right hand but Half Assed sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Half Assed just misses with a punch to the body.
Half Assed throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Bulletzowich sees it coming and avoids it easily. Bulletzowich on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Half Assed has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Bulletzowich staying out of range there. Bulletzowich defending well as Half Assed loads up on a big left hand. Bulletzowich shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Bulletzowich was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Half Assed is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Half Assed wants to control but Bulletzowich postures up. Half Assed is looking for a sweep.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bulletzowich throwing shots but missing, from side control. Half Assed wants to control but Bulletzowich postures up. Half Assed manages to get one leg in to regain half guard. Half Assed controlling the position for now. Bulletzowich is thwarting Half Assed's attempts to control the position. Half Assed looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Half Assed wants to get back to full guard.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Bulletzowich accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Half Assed looking to control.
Bulletzowich got a little sloppy there for a moment and Half Assed has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bulletzowich has managed to get both his arms back between Half Assed's legs - danger averted. We've been hearing good reports from Bulletzowich's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today. Half Assed tries to land a sweep but no joy. Half Assed pulls Bulletzowich in close to his closed guard and prevents Bulletzowich from doing any damage or advancing position. Half Assed is trying to keep Bulletzowich in close.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Half Assed looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Bulletzowich stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Half Assed swivels though and keeps the full guard. Half Assed wants to sweep but no luck. Half Assed is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Half Assed is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Half Assed misses with a straight left. Bulletzowich looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Half Assed takes a jab right on the kisser.
Half Assed takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Bulletzowich bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Half Assed's head backwards. Bulletzowich shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Half Assed as he jumps to the side. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Bulletzowich wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Bulletzowich looking to score a takedown here. Half Assed is defending well but Bulletzowich drives through and ends up in Half Assed's guard. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Half Assed has his foot on Bulletzowich's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Bulletzowich works his way back into a safe position though.

Half Assed avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Bulletzowich. Half Assed tries to roll over but Bulletzowich keeps him under control. Bulletzowich working Half Assed over with strikes. Half Assed regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Bulletzowich.
And that's the end of the fight! I would just about give that final round to Anti Half Assed. I think Half Assed has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Ahma lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Darwin keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Good leg kick by Ahma there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Darwin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle. Darwin moves out of range of the body kick from Ahma.
A quick step to the side and Darwin tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Darwin connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. A jab from Ahma finds it's way through Darwin's defenses. Ahma avoids the body shot from Darwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Zaidi ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Diaz thumps Zaidi with a low kick. Diaz feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Zaidi's calf. Zaidi lands with a kick to the ribs.
Zaidi fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Diaz has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage. Zaidi throws a chopping leg kick but Diaz manages to avoid taking any serious damage. Zaidi throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Diaz takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Zaidi avoids a low kick by using good footwork. We've been informed that Zaidi has been sparring a lot of Muay Thai in the buildup to this fight so let's see if that has an impact on the result. Diaz takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

It looks like Mohsin Zaidi has been cut. Diaz jabs Zaidi right on the nose. Zaidi blinks but takes it well. Zaidi shoots for a takedown but Diaz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Diaz pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Diaz shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Zaidi eats them both and turns towards Diaz to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo. Zaidi scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We've been hearing good reports from Diaz's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

and Koniu holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Koniu missing with knees to the body.

and Boaz makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range. Boaz throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean. Boaz takes a swing at Lê's ribcage but misses. Boaz has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance. The fighters circling - Boaz throws out the jab but it was never going to land. Lê wants to slow Boaz down by chopping away at his legs. Boaz is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Lê. The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Piano connects with a crisp jab. Rick Piano seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Tower thumps Piano with a low kick. Piano takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him. Piano throws a head kick but Tower moves out of range.
Tower missing with a left hand there. Piano was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. Piano darts in and clinches Tower up against the cage. Tower goes for a body shot but it's blocked.

Will he be able to recover?!! Tower is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Piano seems to have got his legs back now. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Tower in particular looking to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Iain Tower showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Tower follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Piano out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Tower finished him against the cage.

An out of breath Iain Tower thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
