The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Smith connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Smith closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Germano tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked. Smith blocks an uppercut.
Germano lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Smith backwards. Germano tries to throw a body punch but Smith avoids it by throwing Germano back against the cage. Smith pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Smith swings for the body but Germano moves out of range.
Smith throws a nice looking combination but Germano bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Germano connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Germano looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Germano throws an overhand right that lands on Smith's shoulder, as Smith tries to avoid the shot. Germano throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Smith plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
It looks like Rui Rodrigo Germano has been cut. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Germano fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Smith looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath. Smith thows a left - swing and a miss!

Smith throws the left hand but Germano avoids the punch easily. Germano attempts a counter takedown but Smith avoids it well and moves away. Smith misses the shot to the body. Germano throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Smith ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Germano moves away. Germano half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range. Germano thuds his right hand into Smith's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Germano passes Smith's left leg - he's now in half guard. Germano with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Germano wants to pass the guard but Smith is defending well. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Smith is defending against the submission attempts here by Germano.
Germano is taking a breather. Smith says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Germano lands strikes from half guard. Germano is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Smith reverses the position - he's now on top in Germano's guard. Germano working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Smith doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Germano is tightening it up a little... Smith has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Smith reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Smith taps out! Nice BJJ there by Germano!

We've been told by Baby!'s head coaches at Five Round Fight Club NY (50 max) that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. Zed Baby! seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Takulai avoids a lazy jab quite easily. Takulai only half commits to the counter leg kick. Baby! shoots in but no luck this time. Takulai throws a counter combo. Baby! forces Takulai back against the cage and clinches. Takulai escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doctore walks into a straight right hand from Moru.
It looks like Oenomaus Doctore has been cut. Doctore fails with an attempt to clinch.
Moru shapes to counter with a head kick. Moru lands a head shot. Moru throws a big shot that misses. Doctore fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Moru manages to avoid it. As Doctore backs off Moru throws a huge counter combo but Doctore manages to avoid it all. Doctore needs to keep his hands up - Moru had a free shot at his head there. Moru looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple. Moru throws a lazy uppercut

Doctore throws a right hand that Moru ducks under and follows up with a left that Moru also avoids with ease. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Moru wants to clinch and Doctore counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt. A big right from Moru misses. Doctore is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Moru. Moru throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Doctore tried to counter with a leg kick but Moru avoided it. Moru misses with a left hand and Doctore counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Moru is rocked! Ma Moru seems to be getting the better of the standup.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Kubota swats away the attempt to clinch by Clarks. Clarks will be looking to protect his midsection after taking some solid kicks to the body. Clarks misses with a hook. Clarks takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Cardona thows a leg kick but Mayer checks it and Mayer counters with a shoot takedown. Cardona fights it but they end up in guard. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Mayer stopping the sweep attempt from Cardona. Mayer stands up over Cardona, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Cardona can't keep his opponent in guard - Mayer advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Cardona is trying to stand back up but Mayer is controlling him

We've been hearing that Chugman has been drilling a lot of ground and pound in training, so let's see if he get the finish. Chugman content to sit in guard, stalling... Great. Oh but he could get punished here because Snoats has locked up a guillotine! Snoats's face is contorted as he sqeezes tight on the submission attempt - will he finish? Chugman is holding on here and Snoats must be using up a lot of energy. Chugman has gone limp! He's out! He's out cold! Snoats gets to his feet, tossing aside his stricken foe. Arms raised, he milks the applause from the crowd. Great submission!

Teebs sees it coming and avoids it easily. Teebs is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Umm closes the distance and pushes Teebs back into the cage. Teebs drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard. Teebs stands and steps away. Umm gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Nice uppercut there from Umm. Teebs bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes. Teebs tries for a takedown but Umm sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Rect Umm has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bo Teebs.

Teebs is rocked! Rect Umm seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Umm is looking for an opening here. He's unloaded a big left hand that catches Teebs flush on the jaw and sends him tumbling to the canvas! Teebs is out cold! Umm holds back from landing any unnecessary shots to his unconscious opponent, as the referee reacts slowly to the situation. A brutal knockout and then some excellent sportsmanship - this guy is my new favorite fighter!

Alcala throws out a loose jab but Choo uses good head movement to avoid it. A looping hook to the body misses from Choo. Alcala does a little dance to reset his feet. Choo swings widly with a right hand
and Alcala counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Choo tries to clinch but Alcala moves away and Alcala counters with a head kick that drops Choo to the mat! Choo scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly! Alcala has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout. Choo throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

It looks like Mew Choo has been cut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Alcala defending well as Choo loads up on a big left hand. Oh Choo is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!! Alcala throws a head kick that misses. Choo seems to have got his legs back now. Choo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Alcala looks to land a left hand but Choo moved out of range nicely. Choo lands with an overhand left. Choo throws a lazy right hand but Alcala sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. A little jabbing left from Alcala on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Choo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Alcala counters with a straight that turns Choo's legs to rubber! Alcala pushes forward with more strikes and Choo goes down, battered and bloody! That's a wrap folks!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:07 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rodney Alcala! Rodney Alcala decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
