Zhao gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Zhao throws a sloppy head kick and Wick moves out of range easily. It seemed like Wick was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it. Zhao lands a high kick to the side of Wick's head that stuns him and send him tumbling down to the canvas! Zhao dives into guard, looking to finish. Wick is rocked! It looks like John Wick has been cut. Wick wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Zhao is now in half guard. Wick is still in real trouble! Can Zhao finish him? Zhao stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. Wick drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Zhao dives on top into guard.
Zhao is in a tricky position. We've heard reports from his gym mates at Iron Wolf Private Gym that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet.

We've been hearing reports that Bard has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight. Junior tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target. Bard changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Junior tries to avoid it but Bard manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Junior to the ground. Junior escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Junior unleashes a big counter combination but Bard bobs and weaves and avoids any damage. Bard throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Oh but Ortiz is tightening it up a little... Campbell has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kurt Cobain (ranked 1172 p4p, 1519 weight class) and Michael Aalto (ranked 155 p4p, 186 weight class). Cobain kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Smells Like Teen Spirit. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kurt Cobain! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Michael Aalto! The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Chris Dean and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Aalto's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cobain connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Aalto scrambles back to his feet. Cobain blocks a head kick by Aalto.
Aalto thuds a left hand into Cobain's body. Cobain misses with a hook. Cobain swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Aalto takes a jab right on the kisser.

Aalto drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Cobain defends it well. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Aalto has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Aalto connects with an inside leg kick. Cobain throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Aalto on the side of the head. Cobain has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Legendary MMA in the buildup to the fight. Aalto throws a nice outside leg kick. This has been an exciting period of action! Aalto takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Aalto scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business. Cobain walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Aalto with a nice calf kick. A big left from Cobain misses. Aalto ducks under a wild hook from Cobain. Aalto doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter. Aalto connects with an inside leg kick. Aalto slips under a jab from Cobain. Cobain throws a lazy right hand but Aalto sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
That's one minute gone in the round. A head kick misses from Aalto. Aalto tries for a takedown but Cobain sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Aalto has a takedown stuffed. Aalto tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Cobain is able to avoid easily. Cobain misses with a left hand and Aalto counters with a lovely straight right hand! Aalto tries a head kick but it misses.

Aalto ducks under a wild hook from Cobain. Aalto throws a big shot that misses. Cobain waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Aalto. Aalto moves away from the strike by Cobain. Cobain misses with a looping left. Cobain moves into range and clinches up with Aalto. Cobain throws a punch but it's blocked by Aalto. A short right from Cobain on the inside. Cobain lands with a good tight uppercut to the head. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Aalto makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut. Aalto pushes Cobain back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A head punch on the inside from Cobain fails to land. Aalto working aggressively here.
Aalto pulls guard effortlessly. Cobain trying to stand up but can't free himself from Aalto's guard. Aalto working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Cobain doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Cobain manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem. Aalto looking for a sweep. Not yet Aalto, not yet. Cobain tries to stand but Aalto is controlling from the bottom. Aalto is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Aalto escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Cobain gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Aalto looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Cobain knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Aalto on the ground. Cobain wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Aalto's closed guard. He's half up but Aalto has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Aalto pivots and extends the arm, Cobain falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Aalto! Well done that man!
