Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Zedicus Jones! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Henry Holliday! The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Chris Downing and Robert Twigg.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Jones tries to land a front kick but Holliday steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed. Holliday keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Holliday shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away. Holliday cracks Jones with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jones tries to hold on but Holliday pushes him away. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Holliday landing strikes, looking to finish! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Holliday working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Holliday avoids the attempt from Jones to control. Holliday scores with a couple of good head shots there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Holliday unloading with bombs! Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't. Holliday looking to finish Jones with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jones! Jones tries to hold on but Holliday pushes him away. Holliday lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Holliday postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Jones looks a forlorn figure.
Jones is rocked! Holliday avoids the attempt from Jones to control. Oh Jones is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Holliday looking to finish Jones with some ground and pound. This is bad for Jones! Jones seems to have got his legs back now. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Holliday lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Jones bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Holliday had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily. Jones postures up in Holliday's guard and throws a big left but Holliday blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Holliday has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall. Holliday escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Jones makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Jones stopping the sweep attempt from Holliday. Holliday is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Holliday looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Jones passes into half guard.
Jones is working for a submission of some sort.
Holliday manages to get to full guard.
Holliday tries to land a sweep but no joy. Jones trying to control but Holliday is working from the bottom. Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Jones working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Holliday's head. Holliday looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Holliday has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Holliday looks gassed! Holliday looking for a sweep. Not yet Holliday, not yet. Jones trying to control but Holliday is working from the bottom. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Jones drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Holliday dives on top into guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
John Henry Holliday dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Jones cracks Holliday with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Holliday checks a low kick from Jones. Jones throws a right and a left that both miss. Holliday shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Jones is trying to defend but Holliday finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Holliday has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones throws a sloppy strike from the bottom. He's now off balance and Holliday manages to pass to side control. Holliday scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Jones to see if he's OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones is looking for a sweep. Holliday looks up at the clock and then as Jones takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Holliday smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

John Henry Holliday has got the better of the ground game so far. Jones is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Holliday has an Americana. Jones didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Holliday is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Holliday hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

It looks like Thiago Souza has been cut. Veechi scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Souza doesn't seem bothered though. Veechi jabs at Souza's body. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Veechi throws a leg kick that misses. Veechi lands a nice leg kick that just misses Souza's sensitive parts. Veechi connects with a single shot there. Veechi is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Souza. Veechi stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Veechi wants it to stay on the feet. Souza is breathing heavily. That's going to take a lot out of him. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Veechi, as that shot connected.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Veechi fakes a head shot and lands one to the body. Good shot there by Veechi. Veechi lands a glancing blow to the side of Souza's head.

Veechi lands a jab-cross combination. Veechi bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Souza's head.
Thiago Souza's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it. Veechi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Veechi dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Souza. That did some damage! Souza takes a jab right on the kisser.
Veechi is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Souza had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into pâté. Veechi changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Veechi lands a right hook to the body.
Veechi darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Ouch! a nice leg kick from Veechi, right into the meat.
That's three minutes gone in the round. A cross from Veechi lands. This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Souza. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Veechi.
Veechi swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Veechi throws a leg kick which misses Souza's front leg but catches the back leg as Souza tries to avoid it. Veechi uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook. Veechi dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Souza takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Jeez, Thiago Souza's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked. Souza is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Eric Lawler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Lawler throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Lawler is looking to clinch but Carson is avoiding it.
Carson misses with a takedown attempt and Lawler counters with a good low kick that Carson was not able to check. Carson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Lawler was well out of range. Poor timing from Carson. Lawler on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Carson. Carson obviously looking to wear him down.
Carson doesn't succeed with the takedown and Carson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Carson swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target. Carson missing with a left hand there. Lawler was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Carson throws a leg kick but Lawler sees it coming and checks it nicely. Lawler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Carson moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Lawler throws a shot from downtown. Carson moves away and avoids it. Carson misses with a hook. Lawler ducked under it nicely. Lawler misses with a straight left. Carson looks to score with a jab to the body but Lawler is just out of range. Carson keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Lawler. Jab, jab by Lawler - just one landing. Carson darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lawler trying to hold on to Carson's head to control him but Carson postures up.

Carson is fighting to break Lawler's control of his arms but Lawler is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Lawler wants to stand and escape but Carson is having none of it. Carson chips away with some ground and pound. Carson tries to free his leg and advance position but Lawler is retaining full guard. Carson trying to control the position from guard on top but Lawler is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Lawler wants to stand but Carson is controlling the position. Carson is looking to work some ground and pound but Lawler has wrist control. Lawler has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
And that's the end of the fight! Eric Lawler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Lawler winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Ramirez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Lee buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
