Shortman feints and as Cell raises his hands in defense, Shortman changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

I think Fortuna might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Godfather Theme by Nino Rota. Rocky Fortuna has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

A head kick by Boma - that's a beauty! Faacker is out but he's somehow still standing... he's going... going... gone. Like a drunk walking down the middle of the road, the inevitable face plant follows and the delayed knockout arrives. Even Boma can't help but laugh at the bizarre end to this one!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Gwan has been working on his boxing with his coaches at BLK Elite MMA Gym in the buildup to the fight.
Gwan takes a swing at Machado's ribcage but misses.

Machado shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Gwan as he avoids it easily.
Gwan is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Gwan jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.
Machado moves forwards but Gwan connects with a nice, crisp jab.
Gwan stuns Machado with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Gwan comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Machado lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Gwan circles away quickly and effectively.
Machado throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Gwan's waist but Gwan gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Machado off to one side.
A counter left hand to the body from Gwan misses its target.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Gwan throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Machado stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Machado looks winded!
Gwan scores with a sloppy right hand. Machado should have avoided that one.

Shumway scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Schmidt doesn't seem bothered though.
Kris Shumway seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shumway throws a hook to the side of Schmidt's head but Schmidt sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Shumway stuns Schmidt with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Shumway lands a jab to the head.
Shumway takes a swing at Schmidt's ribcage but misses.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Shumway enables Schmidt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Shumway manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Shumway really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Schmidt. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Schmidt is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Schmidt postures up from his opponent's guard, before exploding into some vicious ground and pound! Shumway covers up, he's hurt! Schmidt keeps throwing the strikes, glancing at the referee... Will he stop it?? One more big shot from Schmidt and the ref steps in to end the fight! Schmidt can't hide his delight as he celebrates with his corner.

After the fight, Jans Schmidt was humble in paying tribute to his opponent but made it clear he wants to go on to bigger and better things. It seemed to go down well with the crowd who cheered him loudly.
