Islam Bayat had real problems making weight for this fight. After initially coming in at 156.6lbs, he had two hours to make the official fight weight. He made it but it will have taken a lot out of him to cut those extra few pounds. This should be fireworks!

Newton fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Irrawaddy sprawls well initially but Newton persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Newton seems to be working for a kimura but Irrawaddy defends the submission attempt.

Irrawaddy tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Newton wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Newton wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Irrawaddy, who protects the arm well.
Irrawaddy manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Newton has thrown up a leg looking for a triangle. Irrawaddy doesn't defend quickly enough and Newton has managed to lock this one up! Can Irrawaddy escape?! NO! He's tapping out! Damn, that was a quick submission - congrats to Newton on a fantastic submission victory.
